A quick trip down memory land from my ol Jeep

My first Jeep was a 92 wrangler, got it with 99 miles on it. I was told to give it at least 500 miles to “break-in” well I was 16 and never did listen to those authority figures… I had it for exactly a week when I jumped it for the first time, the first time up the path I drove under the tree branches and thought that the path I was on was fairly mild. Then I was spotted as I ended up in someone’s backyard and with the tone of his voice decided to high-tail it outta there… I hit a bump which turned into a jump that had branches smacking off of the bottom of the windshield, I swear I cleared at least 4 ft with all 4 tires, if not more. No one believed me that I could have, well now I finally have some proof. My dad was clearing out some old files and gave me a letter he’s had since 94, to complete the story a month later the universal joint snapped as I was pulling away from a stop sign, so we took it to the dealer for some “warranty work”
He never told me that when I took it the the dealer it cost over a grand to fix, I always assumed it was covered under warranty. He fought with Jeep for a few months after paying a hefty repair bill. Now for the letter he just gave me, keeping in mind as you read this the vehicle was never in an accident, and he gave me two of these letters dated February 15th and March 14th 1994.
qoute:
In regards to your 1992 Jeep Wrangler serial #xxxxxxxxxxxx9787 repair order 315048 dated 11-16-93
Your vehicle was inspected by our Chrsyler district manager, Lisa Schofield on November 22, 1993. At that time it was determined that the twisted drive shaft was not due to any fault of your Chrysler motor vehicle as the drive line was free and unrestricted. During that inspection it was also noted that the left front leaf spring was bent due to an accident, also that the rear springs were flattened at the eyelets. There was also impact marks on the axle tube from the body jounces. This indicates taht the suspension traveled past its normal extension and retraction path.
It was for these reasons that your powertrain warranty coverage did not apply for this visit.

My dad never told me about his lost battle to have these repairs covered until now, which is also when I told him how I jumped the Jeep 10-15 mins before I got arrested for off-roading in North Park… aaaahhh to be young and carefree again!

sorry for the long post, though someone else outthere might appreciate it
