sad
wtf? I just finally read the article. I don’t think anyone could even imagine how bad it is without being there. The lack of treatment is shameful and has been for decades.
According to a 2008 RAND Corporation study, 18.5 percent of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans suffer from PTSD or major depression and 19.5 percent report a “probable traumatic brain injury,” which can lead to other mental-health issues
That’s about the percentage of people who actually leave the base and do anything while they’re over there.
I read most of this… it’s kind of hard to read through … I guess i’m just thankful I had a liquor store in my AO.
I had a steady supply of Jameson being sent via apple juice bottles all year. BTW we did my va claim last week. Ballin! As far as treatment we have great resources where I am at the only thing is you really need to identify it and seek the help yourself which is tough. Try convincing war vet/meatheads that they have feelings and issues with these feelings. Does not compute.
Same here, 15 months for life. TBI, shrapnel in my shoulder, broken bones and other bullshit is all I have to show from that one.
In NTC right now getting ready to head to Iraq as the cleanup crew and the last US Brigade to leave. How lucky.
After that, time to try out the Real World again.
Good luck broski and pm me when/where you are going. My unit is leaving as well however i will be too busy collecting unemployment and being drunk as I am out before they leave.
Ohhh, lucky bastard dodging stoploss… My ETS is October, 2010. Yeah, right haha!
67days son!
My bro is at Ft. Benning right now and heading to Iraq/Afghanistan in Jan. last name is Schuler. Know him by chance?
Schuler… Not sure off the top of my head right now. Know what unit he is with? Sure I can ask around a bit here for you!
