A sign I am getting Old.

Just turned 36 today, and yesterday I bought our first minivan. I gotta say I love it. Its 2011 Honda odyssey Touring. Has Navi, dvd, bluetooth, etc. I really like it but wish it had awd. I will drive it on snowy days so the wife can take my ridgeline. We had a 09 CRV but it was two small. With 2 kids and one on the way this is a must. No mods in the future, maybe some rainguards and I just bought all weather mats for the whole van.

minivans are awesome… i don’t care what people say.

nothing like a big, family oriented, low-profile, notgiveafuck-mobile

Fucking love this thing. Im driving to NYC next weekend with the kids, I will be singing Let it go the entire trip as Frozen is on repeat on the DVD player. Although there are wireless headphones for the kids.

i’m just quoting this so that you cant unsay it

Ziegler? Who was the sales person?

I mean not by choice, you know know how kids songs get stuck in your head??? Im not fucking Clark Griswold. Am I?

Yes, John but not sure of his last name. Had a accent and bald head.

Just curious. What did they offer you for your manhood on trade in? Did they give you blue book or did they do a little better? 2 small.

can you even get these in awd?

I got a good deal. The sales manager tried getting me but I had a price set in my mind and wouldnt budge. I didnt try to kill them and they didnt try to kill me either. I think it was a fair deal. I was hunting when my wife went to sign the papers yesterday and I left her a list of things to check and ask for. John said he would get me a Honda hoddie, when she asked he said he didnt know what she was talking about, lol. I kinda feel bad for her asking. Are you familiar with the place? Sounds like you know something??? She did get the 5 year warranty for $1000, I am skeptical but shit for 1k sounds like a good deal right?

No, i thin only the toyotas have them

Whats the reason for going with a minivan when there are a number of great larger SUV options?

incognito-mode… can’t be a playa all the time.

This. also I looked at the pilot and the thrd row was just not enough. To hard to get people in the back, we bring my mother inlaw around with us on trips and her niece( we all get along really well, in fact i love when they come) so we needed the extra room. The pilot woulda been cooler but not practical, no room behind the third row for luggage, bags, stroller, etc.

yeah all this applies to me too.

mini-vans are better for families… big SUV’s are for hauling your boys or colleagues or clients around… the differences can be subtle but they are there and they matter.

My wife is 44 and she wouldn’t be caught dead driving a minivan. Just sayin.

Lol.

Let’s let professionals tell it:
Hard To Be Cool In A Minivan - The Oak Ridge Boys: http://youtu.be/LIChxjNdq2Y

If you have like 3 little kids, with boosters and car seats, getting back to the 3rd row requires moving one of the seats. I like the idea of a minivan if needed, so much more practical. Also, a new Tahoe, Sequoia is much more than a minivan.

It’s a complete white bitch thing to be “too cool” for a minivan, yes your Chevy Traverse won’t get you made fun by the other riding boot, north face wearing moms. The minivan hate in the US is similar to the station wagon hate.

Mini vans suck carry on…My wife feels the same way we would buy a larger SUV before we would ever buy a mini van

It’s not just Mini van hate I wouldn’t want to daily a Camry or Accord either.

Also a shame that threads like this get more comments then build threads.

You have one kid. I watch my friends that have 2 and 3 and can totally see why a minivan is so much better for them than an SUV. More space, far more practical access to all the seats, better ride and better gas mileage.

Besides that, the modern large CUV’s are really blurring the lines anyway:

^ Those are just mini-vans with less practical doors.

You’re not getting old your wife has just finally crushed your soul. Don’t feel bad it happens to all of us sooner or later
