Just curious if anyone has any experience with advertizing on Facebook, or the radio, maybe even TV commercials.
I feel that one day I will open up my own company for HVAC, and I’m just curious what advertising costs, if people have had good experiences with facebook ads or radio.
Thx
I’m thinking eventually advertising on Facebook since I believe it may be the most affordable but I haven’t done much research yet.
It depends on too many factors to just paint as broad of a stroke that you seem the be looking for.
Facebook is the cheapest, but it’s a very high funnel. You’re kind of shooting buck shot.
The radio is the next cheapest, but again…you’re hoping that your 15 second radio commercial is being heard by someone that is in need of your services.
TV is the most expensive. Probably too much to be effective. 11:00 evening news spots for 15 seconds can cost several or more, each.
Digital advertising, ad words, search engine optimization, etc is all about driving people to your website. It’s extremely effective and can be narrowed down to people who are showing internet behavior that is indicative of needing the service of your business. If you’re a plumber, you can target people who have searched for “how to fix my leaky toilet” within 15 miles of Buffalo. However it’s going to be counter productive as far as expense goes and you’re never going outspend Home Depot, HGTV, Rotor Rooter and whoever else might have an interest as well.
Advertising isnt about reaching people who might need you tomorrow. It’s about setting a cadance and brand recognition for someone that might need you in 3 months or 3 years. Advertising is about getting a presence in front of enough people, enough times that you’re taken into consideration. It’s about creating a brand message. Name the three insurance companies you might shop if you need something? It’s not that you’ve seen a Statefarm, an Allstate and a Geico commercial 3 days ago. It’s that it’s been hammered into your head for 10 years and that I can save a bunch of money in 15 minutes or less.
For a small business, I think word of mouth will be your best bet…and the cheapest. Maintain a Facebook page, maybe spend a couple bucks once you get a large enough following. On the contrary…My father (does custom kitchens and baths) has hundreds of thousands of dollars in work that been booked 12-18 months in advance for the past 20 years and hasn’t spend a dime on advertising since starting.
