"Aftermarket - the great equalizer."

Supercars have and always will be supercars. They will always have the character, the name, the looks, the prestige and all the positive connotations that go with it. But thanks to a little thing called aftermarket the Supercar perfomance is within reach to those of us who will only spend 1/4 million dollars once in their lifetime, and that’s on something with a foundation, not rubber patches.

I think it will be a great idea having an opion article talking about the fact that supercar performance can be archieved without spending the dollars breaking into 6 figures.

The fact that a heavily worked and suspension tune grocery getter can outhandle the likes of Elise and italian exotics around a track, is part what attracts us to the scene and helps keep us motivated to build and in the other part gives us a wierd sense of satisfaction when we say a big FU to the guy who you beat who spend 5x that amount on his vehicle.

Aftermarket manufactuers have the ability to prouce suspenion pieces that are supperior to OE components of some exotics. Car manufacturer makes a car, even if a high end exotic, still somewhat streetable, sacrificing handling performance and the powerband delivery. While that’s good, an aftermarket company will allow you car to be stupid, in a good way. It crosses the line and opens up a realm not possible to car makers. Making spring rates so stiff that it will break your back when you run over a pebble is not comfortable but if helps you keep that Zo6 in the rearview, people will buy it.

Having so much power that you spin tires at 100mph in the dry, is not safe or even safe for that matter, but it gets you the win over an Italian exotic, it makes it worth it.

Aftermarket parts allow you to make your vehicle superior from the performance standpoint to most supercars, as far as prestige factor, well you’re on your own on that one.
