I dunno if any of you tuned in for Strikeforce’s CBS debut last night. Man was it a stacked card. 10x the talent and 10x the excitement of any of UFC’s last dozen events.
Basically Rogers put up a great fight and showed impressive ground escapes and huge power/reach. Throwing dynamite at the terminator will slow it down, but it won’t stop it.
Fedor by BRUTAL T/KO beginning of 2nd round.
Gegard “The Dreamcatcher” Mousasi showed off how much of a stud he is against Sokoudjou.
Soko came out looking in the best form of his life, utilizing his slick Judo throws throughout the first round. But this is Mousasi we’re talking about, and the match ended abruptly when Mousasi pounded Soko into the ground in round 2.
Jake Shields and Jason “Mayhem” Miller (host of Bully Beatdown) had an awesome five round war, with Miller nearly finishing Shields at the end of round three with a RNC. Unfortunately Shields was saved by the bell and won a unanimous decision.
The first match of the night was Werdum vs Antonio Silva. It went the distance, with both fighters looking in top form. Werdum outclassed Silva on the ground however and won the close unanimous decision because of it.
He’s just a wild character, and acts as sort of a dbag on the show. He does a ton of volunteer work and sponsors a ton of charities, and is a hell of a fighter (Shields is a #4 WW in the world and he essentially beat him).
I LOVED the fedor fight. Looking at the stats (age and size) Fedor looked to have his hands full. I called that grim would try to be the aggressor and the Fedor would capitalize off his eagerness. I was NOT expecting a broken nose that early in the fight which I would say the fight didn’t end sooner.
That final punch though just spoke waves about Fedors skill and experience why he carries the title that he does.
watch all the fights. shields fight was a boring 5 round wrestling match. miller definatly wanted to stand up and he looked bored himself. shields was seconds from getting choked out before that bell rang.
a few seconds into the fight i couldnt believe fedors nose was already covered in blood. he was definately getting pounded for a bit and they said it was the first time since 2006 one of his fights went to round 2. but he def smoked rogers with that nasty punch and dropped his ass with a quickness. i thought rogers was about to cry when getting interviewed after
Yeah, I was not a fan of Rogers finish, as if he tried to ignore the fact that he was just knocked the fuck out. I read somewhere that alot of post fight interviews after facing Fedor claim “well If I didn’t do this then I woulda crushed him!” Kinda funny since no one has been able to do it yet.
I will agree the caliber of his oppenents are not what they were in pride, but still, the man deserves all the respect in the world
And the Fedor fight was awesome. Almost a textbook new-age Last Emperor fight. He almost never finished like that in Pride, nowadays it seems like he’s trying to specifically KO people. All the new fans think he’s a straight KO artist, haha.
I was super impressed with Grim, that guy has a future. Right now, I think he’d beat Lesnar 9/10 times handily. I think honestly Overeem and Rogers alone would clobber the top tier UFC HW division, let’s not even talk about how badly Fedor would walk through them.
“10x the talent and 10x the excitement of any of UFC’s last dozen events.”
Really? Did you see UFC 100?.. Lesnar vs Mir…Alves vs St Pierre…Bisping vs Henderson. All amazing fighters and all worthy of headlining their own cards… Ive never even heard of any of the guys mentioned above other than Fedor and Mayhem. I’de love to see Lesnar vs Fedor. Don’t think it would be such a “walk in the park” as you make it out to be.
Yeah, UFC100 was boring and every fight was lopsided. It featured a very green Lesnar vs a very overrated Mir.
Alves and St. Pierre at #1 and #3 WWs for sure. Lots of talent. But, not too exciting of a match.
lol @ bisping being talent, he isn’t ranked by anyone and has no major wins.
This FREE card had:
#1 HW, #5 HW fighting for WAMMA title #3/4 WW fighting a top 10 WW #3 LHW Mousasi vs the former top 5 LHW Soko
Top 10 HW Werdum vs Rising star Silva (has beaten a UFC HW Champ)
And it was free. Fedor and Mousasi alone make up for the talent in UFC100, but then we also get to see Shields and Mayhem, Rogers (also beat a UFC HW champ in 22 seconds), and Werdum.
And really, UFC 100 was pretty boring. GSP injured himself and had to lay-and-pray Alves, Bisping was completely outmatched, and Lesnar vs Mir was the same as the first boring fight minus the bias referee.
Plus, Strikeforce has Dan Henderson now.
Also, how do you see Lesnar beating Fedor? Just wondering.
haha i cant believe someone put up gifs of him getting knocked the F out man. I thought it was funny he was bitching at the end like he didnt just get his ass handed to him.
GOOD SHOW-
I was hoping for the Lesnar match in UFC, but he broke his wrist or some shit?
This show was definitely better than the UFC shows i’ve seen lately
I mean yes they are monsters in size, but I wouldn’t mind saying that to their face, as last time I checked I wasn’t a fighter therefor any physical confrontation would be purely illegal and give me the write to sue them and create run on sentences. I have no need to bow to that level, I’m an engineer I use tools and cunning to win my battles.
I do find fighting to be exciting, but by god can’t they make it sound better then that?
Mono can relapse after you catch it, but it doesn’t usually last more than 2 months initially. I had a mono relapse a year after I had it that lasted 2 weeks. The shitty part is you can’t workout (lift heavy or contact sports) for a month or so afterwords because of the spleen swelling up so much and the time it takes to decrease. Lesnar is going to have some serious retraining to do.
Well that’s cool, but a lot of these fighters are celebrity status and are filthy rich. So able to kill you before cops get there + money + popularity to get away with it = bad idea to badmouth? haha
