Alright computer bitches...school my dumb ass.

When security is at question, I just throw the kitchen sink at it.

Thats fairly easy to memorize, and this thing says its fairly secure, so it must be.

^^^Site is probably run by the same people hacking computers.

Been a little bit since there was any movement on this problem. I decided to go ahead and upgrade the entire system. I discussed this with ProgRocker for awhile and he worked up a system that should suit my needs, which probably isn’t much by most standards of the people on this site. When everything finally arrived I set up an evening to drop the various boxes of geek candy off at his home and like he knew what he was doing, everything was assembled in one night. Stopped out this weekend and brought my old computer system (coal powered unit we determined) and all data was transferred over in no time. Good thing too because he told me there is a good chance the hard drive was about ready to blow it’s sphincter. Pretty much spent the latter part of the evening and some time this afternoon getting all the programs reloaded and such. Have to say I’m pleased with the results and so happy not to listen to my hard drive whirring away, watching the high usage this and high usage that warnings coming up, and wondering when it was all come to a squealing, smoking stop. I would highly recommend the Proger for your computer needs. Someday I’d like to build him one of the secure computer bunkers where a secret door allows access to a command center with everything being voice activated and 1.21 gigawatts of computer power at his disposal. Thanks again Prog…you Rock!!

Well I was glad it was working out for you, until the drive apparently took a dump. I do feel terrible for that…my fault or not.

This was a DIY Combo kit from Newegg. I ususally buy everything separate but the combo was a good price. It was my first time using Rosewill products (Case and Power Supply). The rubber gromets on the case weren’t as sturdy as I’d like but w/e. I also didn’t get to wire manage that well due to the PSU restrictions. I had to flip the power supply in order to get the 8-pin MOBO connector to reach. Not a big deal, but not how I intended it. I used the stock heatsink from Intel with the Core i5 Processor. I still would prefer an aftermarket one, but after fucking with it for a bit I got it to mount properly. Plastic Clips FTL. The Video card I believe was a GTX 660, very nice especially for the AutoCAD stuff. The Motherboard was a Gigabyte board, With USB 3.0 and SATA 6.0 Gbps ports. So it came with a 1TB, 6.0Gbps drive, that apparently took a shit. We threw 8GB of RAM in it with the possibility of filling two more slots (That’s what she said). The one thing I’ve been noticing with the Mid-Towers is that some of the drives mount on the side and with SATA power and data cables it proves to be difficult in closing the side panel. It’s a terrible fucking design that needs to be eliminated. Let me slide the drives in from the front.

All-in-all it only took a couple hours to build, and get Windows 7 installed. Hopefully when we get it working properly 1QIKZ will be happy with it.
