Alternator question

so I’m not going to get into my problem I’m just going to ask a question. On an alternator there is the plug with the two prongs there is a bolt with the largest wire and there is also a little ground wire. So the question is: what one of those brings power to the battery? And what one brings power to the alternator.
If it was the bolt with the largest wire that charges the battery, if I put a volt tester on that bolt and on a ground should I get a good 14ish volts?..

the wire that is big brings the power to the battery, and yes you should get near 14 volts when the car is on. and the altinator makes power nothing brings power to it. and the other plug is for the voltage regulator i believe correct me if im wrong.

Just put the voltmeter on the + and - of the battery to get the same reading?

yup

if it comes low it doesnt mean ur altinator is bad could just be the belt, and if its good on the voltage its ur battery.

yea im trying to find out if it is the alternator or the wires. Thanks though you answered my questions.
