Anyone sell them?
I bought 8 Last year, so I’m just going to stick with the same.
No need for Pella/Marvin are better arguments please.
I need 5 WDH24310
I’ll probably end up just buying them from HD just I’m living there now anyway.

Hass,
I strongly recommend not buying Anderson from the HD.
You may not end up with the same window, you may end up with a “Builders grade” product and also you will definately over pay. Keep an eye out for construction material wholesalers / distributors.
Mind you, I could probably get you a window that is the same quality if not better for a fraction of the price. When you pay for anderson, you pay for the name.

I know others may disagree but I like to recommend non-wood interiors in our climate. Your choice.
Thanks, and I know. I go to them when I’m in a bind for stuff like windows/doors… But for now I have some time before I need them, so I’m seeing what I can get around here.
However, I thought a window was a window, and they were all the same unless they’re different models (Like JD Tractors bought from Depot vs. an actual Deere retailer)
I just realized as I was typing that, I was there scoping out the price on them at HD, and they have a different Model number (the letters) than the one I posted.
Andersen classified it as WDH24310, but I think the Model on HDs box was different.
and Qikz, Why do you recommend non-wood?
I’ve bad things about vinyl/pvc and wood both, but wood seemed the better option.
Although others rave about newer premium vinyl windows.
Then again I probably should have considered fiberglass, but I’m also trying to keep the house looking like a farmhouse with wood.
I’ve had numerous styles andconfingurations of different manufacturer’s windows in my own home. I’ve found that the wood windows, no matter what the name brand, experience some level of condensation on the glass resulting in dark water stains in the inside, and in some cases, mild rot. All my vinyl interior windows do not experience this. I also have vinyl with woodgrain where white was not an option. I’ve had no issues with any of my vinyl windows. Again, I’m sure others might disagree.
I can agree to an extent. Cheap wood windows get beat up by sunlight which causes them to delaminate and then the water becomes an issue. Good wood windows, when properly maintained (Pained or sealed) can last just as long. Shit, I take out windows daily that feel just as sturdy as some of the ones I put in and they are just well maintained.
The whole benefit to vinyl though, besides price, is the fact that you never have to do any of this maintenance.
So, get wood If you want wood. Just make sure you buy a quality window and keep up on the maintenance. If not, go vinyl. I’ve been seeing more and more people go this route and especially with the addition of faux-wood overlays, the windows can look just as good as wood and still be maint. free.
Try Classic window and door on clinton for anderson, they are a distributor, make your comparos to the HD product and go from there.
I got a PM from a guy that just signed up to the forum today and is located in MA… and happens to have one available.
Interesting, no?
Making calls today.
That must’ve hurt.
Honestly, after all the calls around I made…
Most places
So that led me to believe that HD sells lower a lower grade product.
But my experience working at walmart many years back (and common sense), tells me that if a company goes through a ton of a product, the obviously order more and thus buy it cheaper.
So I call up Andersen, and ask the wonderful gentleman that answered reassured me that Home Depot sells the exact same quality window as any other store would. He even said they get quite a few phone calls of people asking this. I called 800.426.4261
I even got an actual English speaking person, may have been a fluke… but it was nice.
But then again, 75% of the price you pay is for the Andersen name, so why would they put their name on a half assed product dumbed down for Home Depot? It also carries a standard Andersen warranty, which I doubt a watered down version would.
P.S.
Williamson ACE Hardware in Williamson is a SHITTY place to buy a wood stove from.
I ended up ordering it from a place an extra hour away (Syracuse) just because they’re a bunch of morons.
$4151 + another grand in chimney pipe later… maybe I’ll have a warm house this winter.
Could be the same window, you never know.
All I know is every window company out there has a builder grade product. And they suck.
But since you did your homework, proceed!
We have never ordered any windows through home depot. I am pretty sure you get a discount if you have an account with a distributor. i may be wrong.
We more than often just use alside.
Yeah, Lorraine should be able to help you out…not.
heh snky snky ninja edit <3
Screw alside. I have never had more issues picking up orders from a single distributor EVER.
