AHH… it’s time for another… “Build that computer” … Im your host Ninja Matt welcome to the game.
Everyone should know how to pay so lets set the rules…
1.) Matt wants a computer
2.) Matt has money… but would like to keep it around 1000$
3.) Matt has picked out a couple option already but need opinions from those who have been doing this alot longer…
4.) Matt really wants the GeForce 8800GTX
That’s about it… anything else is fair game… this is what I have so far
I like asus, it’s what I run now… I hear good things… So i went with this board… PCIe, still skeptical on the advantages of SLI… but it also has support for the chip i wanted which has a good FSB speed and nice L2 cache…

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819115005 <-- cheaper ( Not sure if the extra CPU speed if worth the money )
I have a hard drive… may pick up another and figure out some Raid Array, or SATA or whatever you call that parallel hard drive crap. Never did it… but im sure its not rocket science.
I get so lost looking at all the crap on newegg… I don’t really care about overclocking, unless it’s easily done… as in… done through the BIOS… I don’t want to solder onto my 200$ mobo… which is what I remember OC’ers doing when I was in high school… im sure times have changed since the turn of the 20th century tho.
I don’t do anything too demanding… except play World of Warcraft entirely too much… and I would like to play with zero lag, on the highest settings and highest resolution ( because i can )… possibly while running shit in the background and listening to a music selection on winamp or something.
So those are my criteria… I want the GeForce 8800GTX because my girlfriend will say, “Wow, that much on a graphics card… you are fucking stupid.” … but what I will hear is… “Wow, GeForce 8800GTX … do me in the butt while you get your T3 set in world of warcraft.” …
I just mainly want to make sure this system last at least 4-5 years… so Im willing to drop some money. Thoughts? Comments on my current selections? Ideas? Experiences? … anything will help me out… thanks!!
