Ok i am looking to put together a tower, I have a budget in mind around $600-$700. Not including an OS. I want to get something together thats able to play the current Tom Clancy’s The Division. As well as every day basics. My macbook is starting to get to old (late 2008) And the wife has an Air so I’m looking to make the switch to a desktop again. Im looking for help as far as parts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Id most likely be forcing parts over the next month or 2 and have it build by December. So waiting for deals is ok.
Amd build should keep costs down

Lifehacker just ran an article on best PCs for $300, $600, and $1200.
Yup those are them but ask the seller what ones they are tho, there are 2. 1gb memory or 2gb memory each. You will want the 2gb each but you can also just get a beefy used amd 6 or 8core cpu to take the load off. Up to you tho.

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=251636307135 I used this mobo in my rig and it was awesome, support for 32gb of ram and am3+ socket so you can use the latest amd chips

Thx, say i go this route. I know jack crap about amd, and only slightly more about intel processors. What would be a decent don’t break the bank options?
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=121459981437 this guy is plenty powerful for 90% of the games today. 6 core 3.9 base clock, and with the asrock software on the mobo it’s stupid easy to OC this to a safe 4.3-4.5 if need.

Thank you again. If i find and run those 2 Graphics Cards. Should i look for a 600ish watt PS?
For sure the more the better tbh. When I built mine I wanted to be able to update it when ever. I went with 1000watts just so I know I was good for what ever. That’s the most common thing people get hung up on when trying to upgrade down the road. Especially if you wanna get fancy down the line and add liquid cooling.

I personally wouldn’t buy anything used. Especially without a warranty. Will used stuff work…yeah probably.
I’ve bought used stuff plenty of times for PC parts as long as they are in good shape and shipped and packaged accordingly ie static bags , bubbles etc. there’s no harm in it and if there is an issue open an dispute

MB, processor will most likely be New. I will search for a pair of graphic cards used to help with my budget. I will take the ssd from my mac and install the original HD to sell. Then pick up a 1TB drive for everything else. Need to find a PS and a case and some ram.
Power Supply is definitely something I wouldn’t buy used. It’s my personal preference, but when I build desktops, I want new in the box components.
I deff agree with the psu part

Interesting article, but I already see some issues. Like the fact that the $300 build calls for a 4x1gb memory kit, but the motherboard only has 2 memory slots lol.
Good catch! I guess you’d have to go 2x2 then. Or to max it out 2x16GB.
I’d like to build something like that for a streaming PC.
