ok, heres the deal. I am losing patience and i dont realy have the time to get my 74 honda cb450 runnin. Its starts sometimes, and then misses on one side then the other, blahblah blah. Ive played with the points and ive played with the timing. Its stinking up my garage and drawing on my nerves. I dont have time to set timing and sync the carbs and adjust points, or even get the thing running good.
If theres noone realy interested in making a buck or pointing me in the right direction ill get her running myself, however id wrather not be bothered. I will replace points/breaker/coils/condesnor/plug boots/plugs/etc. basicaly everything needed for a tune up. I just need someone to take some time and make it all work so i can do some cruisin instead of swearing.
There is this guy on sportriders.org. I dont personally know anything about him, but he self advertises himself as a motorcycle mechanic. here is his info:
"With over 30 years experience working on carbs from exotic sportscars, racecars to bikes, and having owned many VFRs ( and lots of other bikes mostly from the 80s and 90s) over the past 24 years, i feel i’m well qualified to offer carb cleaning and rebuild service to members here.
My service includes careful inspection, ultrasonic cleaning of jets, replacement of any parts found unservicable, blow-out with high pressure filtered air, setting float levels, remove mixture screw seals, precision assembly, bench tests to verify operation, and visual synchronization. Jet kits can be installed also.
Much IN-experienced carb cleaning needs to be done again…and again because it takes lots of experience to do the job right the first time, every time.
I aim for about 2-3 week turnaround time, and winter is the best season for me.
( bring bike to my shop or i will pick up or just bring me the carbs)
hmmm thanks for the info. I may give him a call. Still considering if its worth paying someone to do something i can probably figure out for myself. But i may just save my self the time/frustration.
