I snapped the head off a lower control arm bolt in the rear of my civic. I was thinking of going to synapse but not sure if i want to drive that far on it. Is there any where local that you guys trust? Im near Guilderland…
fill it full of weld /thread
no seriously if your in albany hit up gearhead
I had this happen on my old crx- check how much is sticking out the front side of the trailing arm, and take some super-duper vise-grips and there’s (generally) enough sticking out to just screw what’s left of the bolt all the way in and out the front side. Maybe a little heat on it might help, too.
Really I wouldnt drive anywhere with it like that.
Have you tried knocking it out with a punch?
Im not sure if the nut is welded to the control arm or separate though so punching it out might not work.
there is none sticking out it broke off flush, if not slightly recessed
Happens all the time… use an extractor and get that thing out!
could you be more specific?I dont deal with suspension stuff too much. Is this something you can get at an auto parts store?
PM GearheadNY on here. My bro brought his Civic into their shop just last week for the EXACT same thing and they were able to help.
They’re about 2 miles from Albany airport, a lot closer to you than Synapse. They’ll know how to get that sucker out.
Not the rear-facing side of the trailing arm mount, but the front-facing side, the one that the threads come out of, where the nut that the bolt threads into is welded (threaded, tapered end of bolt, on the left side of the attached pic- viewing from underneath right trailing arm/lca).
give the shop a call and make an appointment.
thanks.
dont know who you are or what shop you have?
he helps out at gearhead. go see jason.
