Yeah, I had one in college, got 46mpg with 180k on the clock and never a tune up that I’m aware of. Slowest car I’ve ever owned, but somehow it was a blast to play with.

I don’t think the rabbits came with 1.9s, they were limited to 1.6s IIRC for the oil burners. Although the 1.9l deisel engine is/was common. Probably a replacement engine, which may or may not be a good thing.
We used to mess with the injector pump to REALLY get some good smoke screens upon WOT…
if i wasn’t in the middle of the Metro (i.e. putting all of my money into it), I’d jump on that Audi 80. Ever sine my woman sold her 1995 Audi 90 I’ve wanted an 80/90 as a plush daily driver.
