I went for a week and got back last night. Not bad but Puerto Rico was way better.

Juan Dulio(20 min outside Santo Domingo). Stayed at the Embassy Suites. They have a nice golf get-up there. People flying in with their helicopters, but outside the resort was pooooor.
Santo Domingo is super ghetto, I would never go there. Not enough tourism to actual citizens ratio. The resort towns are a lot nicer.

Yep. Santo Domingo is Mexico City and Puerto Plata/Punta Cana are their Cancun and Acapulco.
