Anyone got a cell phone hook-up with AT&T?

I’m looking to get an iPhone but I’m having a hard time passing the credit check because some dipshit back in 06 decided to put my social in wrong when opening a charge account and when I went to go pay they told me I didnt have an account :gotme:… Anyway

Anyone have a hook-up with AT&T so that I can get an iPhone without doing this stupid credit check ( which I cant even begin to have fixed until tomorrow )

I thought it didnt matter on credit just pay the security deposit.

depends on the actual situation

are you getting a result with a deposit requirement?

Even if your credit comes back as a no hit it would be $500.

Credit checks are required unless you want to have a prepaid iphone

let me know.

There saying that its the wrong social and I need to dispute with Equifax to get it changed

Ok in that situation you do need to have that cleared with all three bureaus, Im asumming the social security administration has everything right?

Once you have all that cleared up then you can move forward.

Yeah I mean if they do like a thorough background search they will see my correct SSN pop up, In the mean time I’m just going to open the account under my dads name and then switch it into my name when this issue is resolved.

That works, just a reminder when you do a transfer of service into your name they will run a credit check at that time and determine if you require a deposit.

Usually all you need to do is fax a bill with your name and address, a drivers license, and SSN card to the Bureau if there is a mismatch on your credit file and then they will approve it.

If you don’t have any credit established at all then you need to usually call one of the three bureaus and have them build a file manually for you, which case you will need a deposit for sure. This can take a few days.

And sometimes if you have a deposit of $400+ then the credit dept. will require to either speak to you to confirm that you want to pay that deposit, and if your credit is a very sensitive class you will need to fax them proof that you are in fact you.

That is incorrect, the only reason the credit department will ever need to call a customer is if they have a block on their credit.

maybe for ATT.

verizon will verify sometimes.

^ I will file that under “The more you know” category.

I will file the fact that AT&T does not do that under the “AT&T must not care about the identity theft of their customers” file. Unless of course you just work for an authorized agent/dealer of AT&T. I’ve seen those jerks run credit on someone not even standing in front of them.

And as much as I hate VzW’s credit dept. for losing me countless gross gains, from a consumer stand point it makes me happy to know that they take it seriously. After all, you really must be out of your mind to pay $400 for a deposit on a cell phone these days.

If you have shitty credit, you will have a deposit.

We fully verify people before we run credit.

The indentity theft occurs mostly internally with agents stealing customers information.

FYI, you can get an iphone and use it on a prepaid “unlimited data” plan. AFAIK you have to jailbreak the phone for it to work though (read about it last week sometime)

probably the better route if you don’t talk a ton. Plus no “sign with us for 2 years just so you can own a phone” bullshit.

249.99 so tempting. I have a feeling once the 3g’s are released the 8gb will drop to 199.99

the 3g’s are supposed to be subsidized too. i bought an 8gb to confirm my impression from the store, that the keyboard is too much of a PITA to type on. ill use it for a week or so then ebay it for $450-500, unless i fall in love. the joy of refurbed is that they wont be able to notice an extra week of use.

you’ll get used to the keyboard after a while ^

all in all, they’re nice phones but expensive for the features (or lack thereof)

Uhh, bring in your social your license and a current utility bill. Have them fax it in and all will be resolved, or you just have horrible credit and your lying to us?

FYI, the I-Phone is too fragile anyway.

PS for everyday overall use Voyager>I-Phone all day.

They need to get MMS to work on it, and I’ll switch right now.
