Anyone have a starter bike?

Anyone know of anyone that has a 250 Ninja for sale? I know someone that is interested in learning to ride, has practiced on dirt bikes and is ready to step up to a street bike.

Something that needs some wrenching is ok, but the cheaper the better, and if it is already cosmetically altered, that is ok also.

I just picked one up from another member on here.

I did see a few on Craigslist and there were 2 in the Beaver County Times. All under 1500. That was a couple weeks back though. I’ll keep an eye open.

is this person dead set on a ninja 250? My wife and I have been talking about selling her Savage 650. It’s a cruiser style but the advantage is it has a low seat height. We were looking to let it go for $1200 obo if we were to sell it.

Do you want to sell the one you just picked up? What is it and how much?

I don’t think the person is interested in a cruiser, but I do know someone else that might be interested in the Suzuki. Thanks.

No, I picked it up for exactly this same reason. I posted a similar thread here: http://www.pittspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44266 But the only real response that was on-topic is the bike that I bought. The ones in the local paper are no longer listed as I suspected. Ninja 250s are not too hard to find… most people seem to learn on them then move on to something bigger.

can u post pics of it with mileage and such? my wife is looking for a bike, sounds like it might be good for her

yeah, will do. I think there are only 3200 miles on it but I’ll check on that this afternoon or evening and try to find some pics around. I’m taking a break from some yard work so once I get done, I’ll get that stuff up.

here’s the pics man.

it is still dirty from the last ride and you may notice the carb is off. I let it sit too long this winter and during the last ride, which was our first big one of the year it was backfiring some so I took the carb off to clean it. I’m waiting for some parts to come in (idle mix screw) so hopefully I’ll get it together later this week. The current battery works fine and I have a spare one on my shelf. I’ve been wanting to change the oil and have all the stuff, just been putting it off. The mileage is true. I used to work with the guy I bought it from and he only rode it during the summer and pretty rarely at that. I think we bought it with 2200 or so and I put about 1000 on in the last 3 years. I got rid of my bike and my wife doesn’t like riding by herself and in the city. I’m not a super fan of the bike, I just feel cramped on it, but when my wife did ride it, she felt really comfortable and loved it. It’s pretty solid and feels good at highway speed (60 or 70) but since it’s a single it doesn’t have a whole lot of top end.

I’ll let you know when I get it back together and if you are still interested we can meet up.

p.s. I forgot to add that it is inspected until June 2009. We just had that done last week.

thanks man for the lil semi bump. its my ex’s and she only road it maybe 30 or so miles in the past year. its so much fun to ride i might i have pimped it 5 miles but had a blast on it. a few months ago it wouldnt start… she took it to a guy that works at either honda house or bahn. i forget. and he redid the valves and cleaned the carb and it runs great again.

so is this thing def. for sale now and ready to go?

negative. I need to find an m6x.50 tap to re-tap the idle air screw. I’ll post back up. I went to Broughner’s and they didn’t have one so I’m trying to find one online now.

just an update, the place I ordered my tap from, rutland tool, just charged my credit card so I hope to see it saturday, but more likely monday or tuesday next week.
