Anyone interested in a trackday bike?

I’ve got a friend who has a '99 R6 or so with tons of spares (basically everything needed to build another bike) that is prepped for the track. The bike IS NOT and WILL NEVER BE street legal, so please don’t buy it with the intentions of riding it on the street.

Anyway, he’s had it for years and just wants it gone. Runs great, has some nice parts on it and it’s been used in a lot of track days. Fully safety wired etc.

Only problem is that it needs some fuel seals for the carbs. From what I remember, they’re some pretty common o-rings that need to be replaced to keep fuel from leaking. My friend doesn’t do track days any more and doesn’t live near where the bike is stored, so he has no desire to fix it. Tons and tons and tons of spares.

Let me know if anyone would be interested. No set price right now, but I can get more information if there is some interest. I’d imagine he’d take any reasonable offer just to have it out of his hair.

I would be interested in knowing what he is asking for it. I want a track bike.

Hmm, if this is around at the end of the summer I may be interested.

I’ll get an updated asking price. It was at $3500 last I heard. I’m sure he’d listen to all offers.

I don’t think he wil get 3500 for a salvage 99 R6. If he does kudos

  1. Not salvage, just has an ORV title.
  2. Not exactly just an R6
  3. Asking price not necessarily 3500.

“Galfer brake lines, Factory covers, CFM rearsets, Vortex clipons, standard Hindle race exhaust, 520 chain, frame sliders, Scott’s steering damper, Penske rear shock. The engine is a blueprint with a thin headgasket, redegreed cams, and the carbs are modified. The bike is prepared to Superstock specs. I have no idea who made the bodywork, I’m pretty sure this is the set I made by taking pieces other people threw away and glassed them together. The color ended up being more purple than we intended, but whatever.”

Spares including two sets of wheels, another tank that is in good shape but not painted, another swingarm, another set of lever bases and master cylinders, another set of brakes, two more sets of forks with stock internals, a parts engine, a set of stock carbs, anther tripple clamp and subframe. He also has a box of various bolts, axles, things of that nature. Stack of extra used gears, and a spare clutch (with springs). The clutch on the bike is in perfect operating condition. Comes with front and rear bike stands. The Bike has a few scrapes on it (not pictured, but I can get photos if you want to see) on the gas tank, and on the left fairing. Otherwise in great condition.

That’s pretty sick looking. If I ever did track days I’d be interested, but I don’t even have a suit yet :frowning:

I’ll give him $1000 cash this weekend if it is still available.

Not sure we could get it done this weekend, since he lives in Indianapolis and the bike is in Detroit, but I can pass your offer on to him. I’m thinking he might want a bit more than $1k, maybe $1500.

Well, let him know. I have cash in hand. If he wants to counter offer, i’ll consider it. Also, depends on travel arangements for the bike.

I’ll let him know!

1500 would be a great deal on this :frowning: wish i could do it.
