My GF is in the market for a new car and she is looking at Infinity QX4’s. I have a couple questions for anyone who Knows anything about Infinity/Nissan.
What should we look out for durring the test drive?
What is considered high mileage on these?
How do Infinity’s stack up to Hondas or Toyotas?
What else do you think I should know before jumping in the Nissan ring?
We are going to go look at a 1998 QX4, fully loaded black 103K highway miles for $7399 on Sunday so any help would be great
yeah, it’s just sort of a luxury version of a nissan pathfinder, even though i don’t even think they’re that nice. save a few thousand, buy a pathfinder with leather and a sunroof with the same miles for about 2-3k less.
infiniti qx4=god in the snow…at least mine was i had a 99 silver with racks and shit…look at the 4 wheel drive system, make sure you check for humming and vibration when in 4 wheel and also make sure it goes into 4 wheel drive smooth. i had no problems at all with it…wish i still had it…they are slow and there not great on gas. just check the 4 wheel system, wheel bearings, anythings bent, ect ect…high mileage would be around 150k. i had no problems from 42k to 99k
i personaly think they are the hotness when it comes to suv’s…they have a motor proven of durability…interior is pimp…just make sure everythign works properly like GSX said…i also agree u can save a couple grand my getting a fully loaded Pathfinder SE…
We looked into Pathfinders and they are actually more expensive then the QX4. I wanted her to get the Pathfider first but after looking at them, They are just as expensive it not mor than the QX4. Were trying to stay under $11k
in my experience, pathfinders are very reliable. My sister has had her 93 pathfinder for like 6 years now, its a 93. I personally have beat the hell out of that truck. It has never broken down, 5 spd tranny still strong, and 4wd still works like a charm. to pathfinders and the QX4 i think she’ll enjoy it
Its a VERY nice truck IF <----- you buy a 2001 or newer. They made several significant changes in 2001 which REALLY made the truck shine. The engine in pre pre-2001 trucks is only 170hp… those trucks are dogs. The 2001 and newer ones are 240hp… which is perfect. The other change that made the most difference to me is the luxurious interior. 2000 and older QX4 interior looks like a pathfinders…and like shit in my opinion.
My advice to your GF is not to set a fixed price for herself. A extra 2 grand will make little difference in payments but it may make a huge difference in satisfaction. The 2001 + will also sell better for all the reasons above.
170hp in a 4000lb truck is like driving a escort. These trucks are solid so buying from a private party is a good option and will save her $$$$.
You can buy aftermarket warranties that are cheap and far better then any dealer will offer.
if you’re GF is interested, I need to sell my wife’s 97 pathfinder SE loaded w/ 100k within the next 2 weeks because we’re moving. We’re only asking $6000 - truck is perfect mechnically and was just inspected.
