I heard that Vizio buys its parts from LG…I dont know if this is true or not. I have an LG and it is very nice.
Most Vizio sets that I’ve seen are def subpar, but passable. You get what you pay for.
There is one example of a Vizio that I really like, I dont remember the model # off hand. We bought it for mom, 42" LCD 1080p, onboard tuner, etc. The PQ on it REALLY surprised me, while I’m no expert I have enjoyed alot of various mid-high end sets and I’d rank that particular vizio solidly in the middle of the pack. Awesome set for $1,100.
Terrible reliability unfortunately, they arent designed to be fixed, if something fails, your fucked.
Good luck.
Vizio’s a popular brand out here. Their TVs aren’t that bad. They buy the panels from LG and most of the insides are from Samsung.
i have a 42" lcd 1080p and i couldnt be happier. the sd looks good, but the hd looks amazing. when i was shopping around i researched all i could on vizio because i had never heard of them. there customer feedback on my model was great. what really sold me was the fact it was 1080p (which was what i wanted) and was in the price range i wanted to spend. the hd picture looks excellent, nice and clear. the only other tv that stood out for me at the time was the sony bravia. but that was more then i wanted to spend. so good luck in your purchase. i like vizio and wouldnt hesitate to buy another one.
Every Vizio looks like shit, but theyre cheap. Go to the store and look at one… If you can handle it, most people think it looks fine, and cant justify spending double on a same sized decent tv.
I would save some more and just get the 40" Sony. Target had it for $1,100… Its not worth the cost savings to me to buy a shitty set, but thats up to you to decide.
My buddy bought the 52 or 57" vizio and its nice. Hd is super clear no flaws that i could see.
i’d stay away from Vizio. They look nice and shiny and have LT as a spokesperson, but I’d feel much more comfortable with a Samsung, Pioneer, Panasonic, Sony, etc.
I have a 50" Plasma and like it alot. When i bought my tv i went out and looked at a bunch at once and out of all of them i thought the vizio looked best so i bought it. This was with out really looking at he price just the tvs. Ive had mine for over a year and love it no problems at all.
Vizio are great for the price and the quality picture when put up to a much higher brand is not that much different. Most people just think if you pay more then it must be better!
yeah.
:picard:
comfrotable? how so?
Our bedroom set is >1yr old, gets ~15 hrs a week usage, not a problem yet.
Moms set (mentioned above) is their primary, and they’ve had it since last xmas, dunno about usage but I’d guess ~20-30 hrs / week. no problems.
:gotme:
For people that are literal ‘videophiles’, and those that think they are the Vizio is not a good choice based on STATS.
For the other ~80% of the populace, who are looking for a “better” picture then SD - it’s a decent brand. In my experience it’s still a helluva lot better then “Olevia” and the other parts bins brands, yet it doesn’t cost a helluva lot more.
