Hahaha. Well it exploits a process so if you run as a user, it won’t wipe your hard drive.
Somehow I don’t think they opened this file. This is a worm which takes over a unpatched process and doesn’t need any interaction from a user to open or start. Your coworker seems to opened up a virus or something since it took user interaction. Lol.
The IT guy at my wife’s little company sent out an email about this last night. It was hilarious, all doom and gloom. “We don’t know what it will do. It could do this, it might do that. It is a very clever virus, blah blah blah.”
Not so much as a link to the removal tool. :picard:
All I know is that if the kid who wrote this thing did it as a small prank is now going to face many years in jail if he ever gets caught. Anytime something happens, they blame it on this worm. Lol.
Good, maybe it will teach these stupid fucking kids to stop writing shit that just turns into a pain in the ass for everyone. What do they expect good to come out of it? Other than anyone who knows anything about computers having to go through a hell of a process to fix all of the noobs’ PC’s that they know…
you would know if you have it. go to windows update and see if it works. if it says you dont have service srunning like BITS then you might be concerned.
