Ok I’m getting my trans am painted and would like some input.
My friend is doing the work and also does awesome airbrush work.
Should I get some flames on the ram air section of the hood?
My car is NBM (Navy blue metallic) and I’m thinking about some dark grey true flames with red highlights…

Something like this with a little red in it…maybe a little darker grey…
I’ll probably sell the car in a year or so anyways so I’d like something that is pleasing to the majority of people.

It really depends on the car, The can make or break a cars look very easlly. Could you Pm who the airbrusher is. I got a few things i need done.
Hmmm, idk. I feel like flames belong on old muscle cars and Harleys.
Well I’m in Houston. The guys name is “Max” Maxwell, here is kind of big into trucks.
Personally, I think that would look really nice with that color combo. Crab-flames would be gay though.
I can either do it down the hood, or do them as stripes down the entire car… I’m thinking just hood though.

Might be alright if they are very faint. Just don’t do anything like the first picture you posted.
I really don’t want them to jump out. I want you to have to notice that they are even there.

it’s a slippery slope… walk the wire or fall to your death.
If its just that area, do it light or it will be too much.
Plus if you sell it, it can always be covered or buy new hood, etc etc. not a big deal breaker like painting a giat tiger on your car or some shit.

The newer the vehicle, the more out of place flames look.
I’d really like to know the ratio of people who think flames on their modern muscle car look good to people who think dragon tattoos on your back look good. I’m pretty sure the data supports a correlation.

Personally I cant fucking stand this type of flame on any car. The longer they are the worse they are.
Airbrushed flames are so much better, but even they need to be very subtle to look good imo.

When you said gay and flames the first thing that came to my mind was flamer as in flaming homosexual. That being said my neighbor has a super sweet car with flames that looks great. So no, not all flames are gay.
+1 - if you do flames at all, I’d suggest “ghost flames”, or even just a hint of flake rather than real color flames.
