awww scared of a 3 liter are we
I vividly remember when Buddy Ingersoll ran close to 7 seconds in a turbo6 and they freaked out. Also…
I am a Pro Stock fan…a doorslammer guy through and through. Unfortunately, it’s a reality whether it’s IHRA, NHRA or divisional or whatever, after the fuel cars run the fans go to the concession stands. It’s a proven fact. We’ve got to do something to make Pro Stock more appealing to the fans.
I stay and watch the doorslammers, and get food/drink during top fuel and funny car. Guess I’m the exception rather than the rule. I like N/A and big cubes. That’s what “gets it” for me!
If they change the formula of Pro Stock, I probably won’t wanna see it. I like the mountain motor v8 lynco tranny formula of that class. I grew up around 400 small blocks, 454 big blocks, and generally v8 stuff. That’s what this class is all about: all motor, big cubes, close competition. Johnson, Allen, Rherer, Morrison and many others are PILLARS of this class. They made Pro Stock what it is: a tightly controlled, highly competitive class.
Don’t ruin it by destroying the formula! These new non-N/A motors belong in Pro Modified. I don’t agree with changing this class.
There is no replacement for displacement (it’s true)
The mountain motor guys are not “scared” they might be a little bit upset that they have tons of money in R&D making combinations to run within a set of specific rules. They are upset that these rules are being changed that may make their combinations obsolete and they will have to reinvest more money in R&D.
You are implying that the big inch n/a v8s are junk because they can possibly be beat by a much smaller turbo engine. By this same logic a 3 litre forumla 1 v10 is junk.
Say formula 1 started took away all restrictions on fuel and allowed 1.3 litre turbo engines. You can imagine the current formula 1 teams might just be a little upset that the 3 litre n/a combinations that they spent millions and millions of dollars developing will be made uncompetitive because of a rule change. This doesn’t mean that the current formula 1 engines which are basically the pinacle of automotive engine technology are garbage because they can be beat by a turbo engine less than half the size.
It’s not that they are scared of 12 year old japanese technology it’s that they have to run under a set of rules that they have optimized their combination under and these rules are being changed.
buddy had a perfect season with a buick indy car motor drag racing,
after he swept the season the banned him…fuckers
rules should never get in the way of speed progress-not in 86 on a buick not now on jap cars.
bitch bitch bitch
Another reason why IHRA is goin bankrupt. They should not allow any power adders in pro stock.
their cars can stay exactly the same. the 3 liter turbos are just an alternative.
well tell that to the NHRA because they are considering the change too. and the NDRA is thinking of allowing V8 guys to run in pro street tire and pro outlaw RWD(import version of 10.5 tire class)
this all looks too familiar. I say leave Pro Stock the way it is. But it all comes down to money. Look at what happened to Pro Stock trucks-358 cube running about half second slower than the cars. That class that had real competition but does not have the excitement of top fuel thus eliminated. I honestly would not be surprised if they try to eliminate Pro Stock car/bike.
on that line of thinking then just allow the turbo sixes in with the top fuel funny cars as an alternative.
Unless it just happens by chance that the turbo sixes are exactly evenly matched with the big cube n/a v8s then the rules will have to be changed to make it even thus changing the combinations of either the 6s or 8s. Then if the rules are changed then teams will have to change their combinations.
@ trying to argue with Sam.
Rules are in no way getting in the way of progress. Pro stock is not considered an all out heads up run what you brung class. it is a class that exists under a set of defined rules.
the 6’s are running mid 6’s which makes it pretty good match up.
funny you said that about funny cars as AEM and don nase both have 6 cylinder turbo rail cars making exhibition passes.
I liked Pro Stock/Truck :sadwavey:
following competative drag racing is the boringest thing ever. They all run within a half second of each other week in and out, it seems like the one who can go the most amount of times without fucking up the launch bad wins. Like baseball. Fun to play, boring to watch.
that is because you are lame and watch it on TV darkstain
on a side note. bullish has been calling out Johnson for years and he won’t run ara or anyone else for bragging rights then talks about how slow and lame their cars are
