quik beat a modded lightning before…therefore all modded lightnings are slower than quik, therefore quik cannot lose.

lightning>*.truck

love the stance they have

ask me about my weiner

all im sayin is, no pulley adds cubes, it creats more volume of air going threw and into the motor, but will not add more cubes to a s/c itself

who do i think will win, the one with traction, most knw quiks setup that hes going to run, whats this lighting going to be running?

come on man, just ask me about my weiner

that could be a very true statement. now that i think about it, they are the coolest trucks…even better than the srt ram, i think…but not by much.

The silverado ss sucks, the ram is cool because it has a viper engine(but it’s a dodge, so that takes away any coolness factor), so we are left with the lightning.

I still like the old school lightning with the 351 though. The new ones are nice but I really don’t like the way they look.

first off, a pulley doesn not change displacment, the arrgument ppl bring forward is, say a cobra, has a 4.6, and the s/c is a 2.2 soo that then makes a 6.8 motor, but i dont really belive that theory tho. no body ever said changin a pulley will add displacemnt, mr. know it all u should konw that a pulley change will just spin the screws faster thats all. i never knew a change of pulley would add more cubes to a blower. Soo wait if u say that, then me puttin a smaller pulley on my cranks should increase my motors cubes?!?!? awesome

yeah its all about how much air you get into the motor. a charger is capable of throwing in the same amount of air into a smaller motor, as a bigger motor pulls in n/a. so in a sense it kinda does increase displacement. it makes it act like a larger motor. like how a 1.8 liter honda can make 500whp like a n/a 408 lsx. the honda burns the same amount of air and fuel from the additional 30psi of boost as the 408 inch lsx uses

n/a is great…produces solid power and really makes for good top end when built right but nothing can compete with FI. esp turbo systems. you make substantially more power than what can be streetably run in a n/a motor.

the power band is usually flatter…the torque curve in a boosted application tends to have alot more low end than a similar hp output n/a motor… this area under the curve shows itself at the strip. and is by far a better street driven car than a high hp high rpm n/a motor.

and as far as who wins?? it doesnt matter if quik is n/a and the lightening is boosted. its all about whos gettin the most power to weight out of the setup…usually…and has the gearing setup right. if quik makes more power to weight, then he’ll win. 9 times outta 10. if he plans on a 408, you can count on 530whp+ thats bout average for a hot 408 ls1 package. lightning will need atleast 500 to match, which seems like a built bottom end and a KB blower or heavily ported eaton…or addition of spray on any of the combos. cuz i thought 460-470 was the limit on the stock bottom end

The silverado ss sucks, the ram is cool because it has a viper engine

the ram is such a big truck tho…its too tall looking and just overall big. i’d like to see if that motor would fit into the older rams which seem smaller in proportion or the dakota

I just love the comments “needs a blower to beat…” meanwhile quik sprays

lol what do you think displacement is measured by??

yes, gm messed up making the sliverado SS, why the fuck would u make it ext cab and all that stupid shit, and finally make a option for 2wd. GM should have made it 2door short bed, 2wd, and put a 6.0 or 5.3 with a s/c on it and not ask for a leg, an arm, and ur first born

I just read all this shit and I have to say that I don’t care who wins or who which side of the argument is right, but I think that I have to side with the people that read and comprehend someones point before responding rather than just blindly spouting out their side.

displacement=.785 * bore^2 * stroke * #of cylinders

i konw this curt, im sayin tho, it does not acutally gain more pysical cubes by changing a pulley on a blower, cobra guys either get them ported, or get a KB or a wipple, athat is a 2.3 or a 2.4 blower. thats all my arrgument was. look as i said before, im not bench racing for anybody, and it drives me nuts when others bench race for other ppl

agreed. its still a nice lookin truck, but it doesnt excite me much. i like the lightnings, then the SRTs, then the silverado SS

i loove the lightnings

so whats up with your weiner?

it rated this thread with 5 stars!!!

Um, it actually does gain more physical cubes. :stick:

Symantics will drive you crazy. Its no great epiphany that calculated displacement based on a givin bore and stoke will not change unless said bore and stroke are altered. We all already know this. Just as we all know power adders put more physical cubic inches of burnable oxygen into you engine. It just drives me nuts when people think they are educating everyone with their great engine knowledge.
