I wonder if bmw USA would actually give a letter to make it eligible to be brought to the states, even though tourings were never sold here.

No, they won’t, and that ad is hysterically misleading. Have fun registering it in your state, driving it over, and having it seized.

id be willing to bet that if you drove it across nobody would be any the wiser.
its not a skyline, its not RHD, and you have to be some sort of a BMW enthusiast to know they never came to this continent…to any other joe asshole it just looks like a shitty old bmw station wagon

Driving it over wouldn’t be an issue, titling and registering it in a legit way would.

I just bought a 88 3 series from Canada. It’s not that hard to accomplish. <$400 to pay someone to do the paperwork. All I had to provide was a letter from BMW of canada (they faxed it without problems) and provide pictures of the door jamb stickers and cluster pics. Then just switch the cluster once it gets to America

It took a week for the paperwork to come back from Customs and I had it registered that same day. People at the DMV didnt even keep the form they just looked at it quickly.

Thats why I was wondering if the same could be done in this case, since its just like any other e30 except a wagon, but I suppose not since I guess it wouldn’t fulfill bumper, emissions and w/e other bullshit standards since its euro spec.

Except they never had wagons in Canada, it’s already been imported, BMW of Canada will not provide a letter for it.

Registering it is the easy part.

ah. I read the article and it said he was the original owner so I figured it was purchased in Canada.
