ATTN: If you are using a "loader" for WIN 7 activation:

You need to block windows update from downloading the follow update # KB971033 which is a Microsoft update to WAT which will essentially disable the “loader” and you will not pass genuine validation and go back to an activation timeout.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you prolly don’t have to worry.

+1 heard about this a few weeks ago on cnet and blocked it

I’ll have to check as I just reinstalled win 7 last night. Most bootleg versions use loaders?

Yea, theirs a few other ways about it iirc but a bios loader is the easiest and most effective it seems

the loader simulates what happens when your computer comes factory with win 7 on it.

I dont think I have it, but my win version is “OEM”. It does setup a 100mb system partition during install.

depends… I don’t know why anyone would need a bootleg “version” as the RTM works 100%.

The loader just emulates what would normally happen at boot if your computer came with win 7 at the factory. I don’t believe this update will effect those of you running a modded BIOS with SLIC keys instead of the loader.

if i have updates shut off will it still try and update for this?

Probably not jon

no if you have updates shut off you’re prolly ok. FYI I always recommend updates being turn on because Microsoft always fucks up, but just turn it on to notify you and you can select which ones to dl and install

I keep getting the “windows is not genuine” popup.

FMl

that’s from this update. Remove the update by going to control panel, remove programs, and view installed windows update. Click the KB971033 and click uninstall.

Then download and install this program which gets rid of WAT entirely  ENJOY.

Awesome work brah!!!

I installed the windows 8 update, and now I have pop-ups galore and prolly a virus :lol. I need someone to go through this dumpy thing and get it right again…

I should be good.

My version runs a script prior to first bootup that has a bunch of keys in it.

I’ll block it just in case if I see it. I read the descriptions of every update before installing looking for words like genuine advantage, activation, etc.

I plan to eventually purchase 2 cops of 64-bit Ultimate Retail for my laptop and desktop.

Thanks Wayne. Can’t rep ya or I would.

Fuck this, I’m going to back win95.

Windows ME> 95

Thanks for the heads up!

NO that is the loader I was talking about. Make sure you disable the update or to avoid the issue once and for all run the file I linked.

Oh is it? You guys were talking about the BIOS and crap. Mine is just a simple .vbs script.

Will do. Thanks.
