ATTN VW / audi owners, whos all goin to H2Oi?

I know where you are coming from Lee. Same situation with me. I bought my first VW in 1980, a diesel rabbit L. I bought a 1983 GTi in March of 83, a month before my oldest son was born. he drove that GTi to college his freshman year. I raced that GTi at Keystone in 1986, and my wife raced it there in 1987.( picked up a small block 74 Nova to race) Most sundays it was the only 4 cyl FWD car on the track. I have owned air cooleds(a beetle and type 3 fastback) and water cooleds. Bunch of bunnys, a Rocco, and a few cabbys. I agree, the whole water cooled scene is different, so i guess i am old too…LOL. So i usually take my 87 wolfsburg T.W. to local cruises while my wife takes the 69 SAAB.

when was the last time you were at an event? oktoberfest of last year? i saw your car and loved it, not to mention everyone else i was with liked it too, but were all just “fucks” so…

thats part of the whole problem, why look down on someone just because youve had more cars? does that make you better than them? if anything im smelling a little bit of the elitist attitude here. it works both way…

anyways. enough arguing, were supposed to be one big happy family…

Steve, this quote from Lee better explains where I’m coming from. I just didn’t really like trying to break into the local scene when I got my car in 2002. It was cool for a while, but the whole group just wasn’t quite jiving with my personality. I did meet some cool cats, but really, I didn’t need to spend one day a week sitting in a parking lot and eating. And again, this is all just personal differences. A lot of people don’t like motorcycles, or don’t like spending all day driving around cones in a parking lot, but I do.

I’ve never been to waterfest or h2o. Ever. Again, I really like working on cars and being around them, but for the money and everything, I would rather save it and go skiing in the winter, or buy parts, or whatever.

If you are into the scene though man, more power to you. I came in after one of the blow-ups and we tried to have a pittsburgh scene in 02, then it kind of blew up, then people started this bds blah blah blah who cares whatever crap. So I’ve seen the cycle before local. It might have changed recently, but I don’t have time nor the desire to care about the show scene or local drama.

No arguing, man. And yep, Oktoberfest was last time. I just don’t have time to go somewhere and park or eat on a regular basis. I want to drive. So I admit I haven’t attended much and can’t base my opinion on anything other than that. Could be that maybe it’s just 'cause I’m older and don’t have many tats and piercings and emo hair, but a lot of those dudes just look at me like I’m a moron. Which I very well could be. So, maybe it has nothing to do with my car but instead is their perception of me because I don’t look/act/talk like them.
I’m not looking down on anyone because I’ve owned VW product most of my life, and here on this thread would be the first mention of what I’ve owned in the past. I’ve never walked around saying “I owned that car back in the day so I’m better” or anything. I just walked around trying to engage people in conversation and talk about their cars.
So all you’re smelling is what you perceive from what was written by me in this post. I never once judged anyone by their car or what they looked like. I judged them for being an ass for not responding in courtesy when someone engages them in conversation. Maybe, like anything else, it’s just a few bad emos that ruin it for everyone.
The reason I am at Pittsspeed as opposed to vortex and crooked euros is because I appreciate ALL cars and appreciate the many different backgrounds and ages of people who contribute to the forum. That must make me a redneck who knows nothing.
But it’s cool. Even when I go to Triumph G2G with my bike, the old skool Triumph guys don’t recognize the newer model bikes as being “true” Triumphs. Happens everywhere. So, naturally I migrate towards people who have same types of car. But I still try to keep an open mind.

ohman. i can see why, that was a bad time in the local scene, thats when all the drama started. i dont blame you one bit for not being interested in it… but, now, the scene has changed for the better.

i see where your comin from. youre perception of the scene is like everyone else i know that thinks its all tats and piercings and emo hair. theres so much more than “those” kids. personally i dont like those people in the scene at all, they are what gives us a bad name. theres normal people who are in the scene who are into more than just being retards. i know a buncha people who auto X their cars. theres are some who restore them to factory specs, they are some who track them, and there are some who just build em for fun… but i see where your comin from. personally, i just over look the one who give us that bad name and i stick to the people i know (my friends). from what ive learned about the scene, it more the comradarery(sp) than it is about the actual cars. but to each his own i guess.

glad we are seeing on the same level here now.

and as for the comment on the other brands/styles/makes, i can appreciate the ones that are built tastefully (im not gonna respect a civic with a huge body kit and wing or a beat F body with mismatched panels & a confederate flag painted on the hood) you get the idea.

word dude. now, back on topic, for christ’s sake I hope you get pics of boobs from h2o!

Very well said! Have to agree 100%. If i ever see you, beers are on me.:beer::beer::beer:

no need to go to H2O for some boobage :hsdance:

maybe the canadians shouldnt have been doing burnouts in the parkin lot. i do gotta admit it was pretty funny watching everyone just go down the street and meet up again

Wal-mart FTW. And what was funny is that since the whole North Brunswick PD was “dispersing” the lot, there were no cops on the roads. And not that I condone it, but man, we were flying down route 1 with no worries since the cops were all in to the parking lot scene.

Well said. I have never been to h20 or Waterfest, but I still love my VW’s. Thing is, I enjoy MY cars. Sure I like to look at some of the rides some of these guys have, but I can always read the “event coverage” on vortex and save all the cash of actually going. Maybe I am missing out, I have been asked to go a few times, but I don’t see the point. If it were more local I’d go. VW and Audi all rock. Audi isn’t a snooty ride, it’s just a view of the near future of VW!

its one of those things you have to experience to really understand what its all about :stuck_out_tongue:

its one thing to read about it, but its a whole other thing to be in the middle of it all… but i can see why you dont go, its a far trip, its expensive, ect. but i look at the trip as my vacation. we get a house from thursday til monday usually, hang out on the beach and just do vacationy stuff every day, then go to the show on sunday. H2Oi is more about the trip/vacation than it is about the car show. think about to a trip youve taken with a few friends to the beach for senior week or a trip up to camp for the week. thats what this show is for me :bigthumb:

so does anyone who went to waterfest know what the hell was going down at the ramada after we got chased out of chili’s? after we relocated down the road

I was there, and it was AMAZING…Never seen so many sick cars…No rice, everything and I mean EVERYTHING looked great. I got tons of pics Ill upload/
