autocad crashed my computer?

but what I dont understand is it worked perfect while i was using it, but it didnt fuck up till the next day

ok, I uninstalled those adapters, wish me luck

Hopefully windows can install them automatically, otherwise you’ll have to download them from Dell. Since you can only get into safemode you’d have to do that from another computer unless you can get safemode with network support working.

why are you in safe mode anyway? Windows won’t load properly?

That sucks…
When I was 1st using solidworks, I was running it for a week or so w/o restarting
and had probably 5-10 parts with one or two assemblies open at the same time.

One day, I reastarted to get windows media player working and bam.
Blue screens. PCs here are locked down, so I had to try and fix the drive on using my lab PC. I fixed it so well, that I was unable to log into the box anymore and the IT guy could, but he did not have admin rights…
He had to reimage my drive and I then had to reinstall everything.
(but at least I have admin rights now)

GLWFix

I am in safe mode with networking now. i deleted both drivers and it installed one fine, the second one said it was searching/installing (i forget which) when I left for class, came back 2 hours later and it was still not finished.

windows loads fine until I move the mouse and/or try to click on something.

I wouldnt mind reformatting as long as I can get my music, docs, and photos off the HD first. I would also like to grab microsoft office too because the computer didnt come with it.

I had been thinking about doing it anyways because I am sick of seeing the pop-up telling me the partition for back up is full.

I have my old HD from my desktop that I am pretty sure still works. is there an economical way to use that to store my stuff? all I have is a 1gig jump drive and a 4 gig memory card which is enough for my docs and pics but I have almost 7 gig of music.

I am going to uninstall cad and re-delete the video drivers. back to how windows never found/dl’ed the second driver, it never asked me to provide it, it just kept searching. idk if thats indicative of anything

edit: wtf, windows uninstaller isnt avail in safe mode? now what?

Is this at work? If so do they have a shared folder for employees? 7 Gigs of music is nothing, you could redownload that in an hour. If you’re booting in safe mode then the network driver won’t load and windows won’t look online for the missing vid. card driver.

7 gigs of music is a pain in the balls to redownload, thats a lot of songs. Unless you’re the type that only has whole albums in which case 80% is probably crap anyway

Try 600 GB, which is close to what I have…7 GB is nothing.

Not with out it looking like crap and barely running, these programs are extremely graphics intensive and not recommended to run with an on-board card.

lol, no. its at home. I can get it to boot to safemode with network connectivity (thats how I posted last time). how do I load the specific drivers that will recognize a USB jump drive and my mini SD card slot reader?

and yes, I know 7gigs of music is nothing, but its more than what i have in removable storage so thats a problem. I would say that a quarter is from itunes, so I can get that back, but I do not have hard copies of the rest.

off board card? there is such a thing? hmm

a PCIe card or the like…

:picard:

dude, dont piccard me!

I am starting to think you are in way over your head

I will definitely agree with that.

I got it to do a system restore… It’s better but still touchy. Going to furthest restore point which was a few hours prior

WTF, every thing loads perfectly until I click something with my mouse then it freezes (on itouch now btw)

edit: went back into safe mode and deleted the video drivers. It immediately failed finding the ‘chipset’ one. I went to control panel>advanced settings and it froze…

In FTW.

Get ghost or something like that so you can image your hard drive to an external. If your old hard drive is good buy a USB dock/adapter or external housing and push the image to that drive. Then re-install fresh and then finally use external ghost image to restore docs/music etc…

I just thought of this: my HD is already partioned into C and D. D was used for backup and has been full since a month after I got it.

What if I format D, put all my files onto that then reformat C and reinstall windows on C?

That’s too easy. Something tells me it doesn’t work like that

my old HD is a Maxtor ‘DiamondMax Plus 9’ 200GB ATA/133 HD

the only ones I find are for SATA drives (amazon)

wait, this one says it will work with an ATA drive (LINK)

I think I will get one of these regardless for back up…
