Awesome deal on a new trailer

My original plan was to pick up a harbor freight $179 trailer, throw a rail on it for about $100, make a ramp, and then use that for my light duty bike trailer (to tow with the VW) but found this gem instead. Picked it up for $275. Needs new lights, some minor wiring work, and a quick sand/paint to get rid of the surface rust but the trailer was used once then stored so the tires are basically brand new. Pretty excited!!!

Nice dude!

You saved $4. Hahahaha. Nice pickup tho

You forgot about tax… lol. And the time/materials to actually do it (hardware, metal, etc). The $100 was just for the pre-fabbed rail I was going to use from HF. Plus this one won’t have to go through a home-made trailer registration.

Nice stuff. A plywood deck will make loading and unloading much easier.

I’m thinking of going with a steel grating to help save a little weight. The wood won’t be too bad normally, but when wet it could add some extra unwanted weight. A medium duty grating will be fairly on the light side. I also want to add a small tool box to keep the straps, etc. clean and dry.

steel supermarket. FTW!

Talk to the guys there. They have a ton of different grate material there. Some light grate welded to it would hold your weight no problem. those cross bars look like 2 feet on center or so?
