axle recommedations

I’m going to be getting new axles in the next few weeks mine are worn out (H22 EG)… just seeing what you guys recommend…experiences

i’m not going to go $400+ for Raxles, Gator, or DSS

as far as local shops with lifetime warrenty what do you guys prefer…

autozone
adavance
napa
carquest

remanufactured or new??..i think advance sell new CGK axles & i heard Napas are new too.

i’ve heard a lot of good & bad about all these…so just trying to get more info before i make the purchase.
probably have gearhead get me a set @ advanced…but we’ll see.

there has got to be some people here with some experiences with OEM replacemnet axles???

If u are not planning to put big hp ## i think u can get away with remanuf. But i dont know how h22 on a hatch would do with remanuf axles.I put reman integra axles on my B16a and they are good.I got them at advance (i work there:)).

with a H22 in a EG you are always goin to run the risk of breaking them, but OEM axles from napa have been good to me.

my buddy had one of the first h22’s in an ek in pa couple years ago. he had driveshaft shop stage 2’s and they broke 3 times before he eventually parted the car out. they were only in for about a yr.

Napas have been good to me too.

cool…its gonna either be napa or gearheads deal @ advacnced.

just like stinkbox said…Ive heard stories of the “good” aftermarket stuff breaking too…so i don’t want to dump $350-$450 into Raxles, Driveshaft shop or Gators & still have them break…

i’d rather save the extra $200-300 & just do napa/advance/the zone, etc…

With the way the h22 sits in an eg most likely you are going to wear out the rubber boots, lose all the gease in the CV joint, and then they’ll fail, so just run the cheaper ones. At least that was my experience running an H22 swapped in an eg chassis.

BTW, how is you h22 holding up? I think that you actually have my old set-up.

stocker junkyard axels, I just threw away a set, of 90-93 axles…

booooooooo … you can’t let anyone know before you junk stuff…

if you got anything else let me know.

i might need some accord inners agian…but we’ll see.

yeah i’m still running on the axles it came with.

the passenger side outer joint its messed up…so i gotta replace it ASAP.

the h22 is doing good…have a slight idle problem (fast idle valve/vacuum leak, something…) & its doesn’t always start right up…but beside that its been running good.

i also swapped the EX knucles/rotors/calipers over to my VX, & its still running on your stuff & they gotta be replaced real soon too.

but hoepfully i’ll have it done later this month/early next & be out @ the track/flashlight/etc…to see what she can do.

hahah yeah the one time he was racing someone and started smoking under the hood, popped it open and his cv boot was on fire from rubbing, nice bottle of sprite put it out haha.

you can Replace just the outer portion…im not sure if you can use stock civic outters or not,

i don’t have any rubbing/binding issues…its sits pretty nice with the D2’s

the ones on it are sloppy…knocking/clicking i just want to get a new set.

but what seems to work best…is 90-93 tegs with accord inners they seeem to click into the tranny better.

nothing beats a oem honda axle

I believe DSS makes H22 axles for motors in a civic chassis and they are supposed to hold up well

Doesn’t Hasport make an H22 Civic axle too?

i’ve heard mixed reviews…some say they are great & ive heard stories of them breaking…& they are in the $400+ range

yeah…but they are up there too…$400+

i’m probably gonna give napa a try & see what happens.

yeah & they are what…like $300+ each.

i read somewherere that a guy when to a honda dealer & the service manager told him that they rarely even use them…they usually put in Napas cause the honda OEM’s are so pricy.
