Back on the street, trans questions

Ok, so the car is runnin pretty good and i was thinking of getting some trans work done. I’m gonna go with a peloquin diff and new syncros (most likely 1st-3rd). I was also thinking of getting the gears cryoed… Is it worth it? From what i was reading it can make them like 40% stronger. Who cryos around here? Any other recommandions to get the power down to the ground a little better?

save ur money and buy atp’s g-force gearset. or stock up on any and all 02a trannys u can. 4’s and 6’s interchange, bell housing is different. not so much 1 and 2 that break, it is 3-5 that go.

o2a’s are expensive to stock up on :frowning:
I was looking into the quaife gearset but that shit is pricey… I guess i’ll start saving my pennies now…

i meant apt. http://www.aptuning.com/products.php?catalog=vw&chassis=A3&section=drivetrain&subsection=gears looks like 2400 bucks for a gear set. gears are nice, made by g-force. and g-force makes some damn nice domestic shit. just look on g-force’s webpage. top notch place.

as for 02a’s, just depends where your looking for price. i know i have one collecting dust in my garage. i’ll never use it. know of another person w/ 3 of them stashed… so shit is out there.

Forget the Quaife gearset. In the meantime keep the slick size down at the track and avoid wheelhop at all costs. 4th gear stripping becomes a problem when you start getting in the 500 whp+ range.
