Baja SAE Illinois

Hello all…

Figured some of you might enjoy this. My senior project was mini baja @ Buff State, and we raced in the event this past weekend in Peoria, IL.

Lots of pics, and lots of sick cars there. Keep in mind some of these schools have TONS of cash/sponsors, where as we have minimal funds. Regardless I love our car, and it kicked some ass.

I did Mini-Baja at UB for 3 years.

A good friend of mine Cody built it with you guys. Looks awesome

dammit! why didn’t I know about this…

Those fox podium shocks?

Yup, Cody is the one flying through the air in the picture above

Yes, podium x’s!

nice ride! i was at your dads shop a few days ago and saw some of his other toys too

car is looking much better. I was on the UB team too, awesome experience. There is little that can match driving in a baja endurance race.

sucks with baja you guys are limited to using the motor/trans they provide…

That would be Alex’s dad, our other teammate. Awesome guy, he helped out so much with the car…and indeed he has some nice (loud) stuff over there!

Yeah this was my first experience driving in the event. I did maneuverability and an hour in the endurance race…I was itching to get back out there after my time was up!

Now I am looking for an excuse to go back to school to get involved again :stuck_out_tongue:

that is the whole point…make as much as you can out of 10hp. transmission is subject to you…the only thing standard amongst teams are the rules and engine provided.

lil video of me in the endurance…gets interesting after 4:45

you break in the roll?

I actually went back out after I tipped, bottomed out on a whoop and the car died…no idea why, but they pointed out that i folded one of our rear camber bars so they towed me out.

I wish I saw this sooner, like before the race. I hope I didn’t break your car too bad! I’m an old RIT Alumni that helped organize the Illinois race. It was said that there was 50+ rollovers and 10 teams DQ because they had 3. I helped design the courses, did Tech Inspection on thursday, and was the yellow flagger at the back corner at the log/hole option.

I had the big green jeep cherokee that floating around.

Just incase you guys don’t know about it, a good newer resource is bajasae.net

we are on bajasae.net  under bsc-baja, and yes the course kicked our ass…but we finished!! alex, the first driver, flipped the car on lap 3 in the back by the hole :stuck_out_tongue:

overall we had a blast! it was a good mix of straights and challenging sections, i only wish i could of been out there longer. my neck was feeling great the next day!
