this all started monday when I connected a trailer wiring harness to my car. The trailer lights did not work fwiw, I suspect due to a bad ground on the trailer but could be anything. The Harness was spliced in directly before the tail lamps. Tried to start the car a couple hours later and found the battery to be dead. I didn’t think much of it at first because I also left the headlights on for a short time. It was jump started and then started fine a few hours later and then also the next morning ~9 hours later.
It failed to start after work that day (9 hrs) and has been sporadic ever since. I removed the ground connection in the trailler harness and it still went dead.
Could there be some sort of drain due to the trailer harness? It doesn’t seem possible since the tail lights normally have no power going to them and the ground wire is disconnected.
Could the battery have been damaged in the first discharge or is it possibly not getting a full charge while driving? Drives have been 15 min. to 1 hour in length.
I don’t have a charger or multimeter currently. Voltage while the car is running is 14ish. Would getting it on a charger be the first step?
The battery is currently disconnected, plan to go tomorrow and get it tested at advance or something.
