Does that really matter? The EA cops have the plate scanners on a car and the constantly drive up and down the rows of parked cars in the Tops plaza issuing tickets. It’s kind of comical seeing people flip out because their car is unregistered and their car being towed.
INB4 Douche comment about people posting about getting tickets
I would think all it took is for Tops to tell them to stay the fuck off the property unless called
Well it would have to be Benderson since he owns the plaza(surprise) but it’s hard to feel bad for people when they get a ticket for breaking the law. I mean it’s one thing to give someone a tint ticket because you noticed it strolling through the parking lot but the unregistered, uninsured douchebag who has a warrant out for their arrest for failing to pay his child support, well they deserve it.
the cops can get you for no inspection/registration issues anywhere that is “public domain”…
ie not a home
ask me how i know… i did research with a lawyer trying to get out of one
Stay legal, problem solved.
There’s no conspiracy going on. Cops are more likely to pull you over when the weather is nice/dry then during a blizzard or monsoon. If you were a cop how many times would you like to get out of your climate controlled cruiser during foul weather?
As far as you guys with illegal tints, inspection, registration, front plates, or whatever… If you can’t deal with tickets and cops then don’t make you’re vehicle illegal/a cop magnet.
or befriend a few judges/cops and get a special card/sticker
well that sux. but good to know.
A bit different than doing 75 in a 50… 15 over on a thruway isn’t going to hurt anyone…
UNREGISTERED OR UNINSURED?!
So JustinH, you just picked up a 2009 Subaru WRX STI at $35k, some guy t-bones you and totals your new car, oh wait his car isn’t insured…
And you didn’t opt for the uninsured drivers program with your insurance, guess what, you’re out 35 g’s.
BUT then again, it would kind of piss me off, WE could be paying some college student $10 an hour to do this job (parking enforcement type shit) but instead we are paying some guys $50k a year to be car inspection baby sitters rather than fighting real crime…
This is not a choice. Unless both idiots are uninsured.
I got a special sticker! I got state troopers in the family. But then again, I don’t do stuff to get myself pulled over. I think I’m more careful cause I don’t want to cause trouble for them.
75-50=25
If your car is unregistered/expired inspection etc the police can ticket you even if it is parked in your own driveway. The only place it would be safe is in your closed garage.
Your insurance would still cover it. You’d be out your deductible though.
And if you’re driving a beater without collision you’re fucked, even though the accident was 100% not your fault. My brother in law had is legally parked car totaled by some piece of shit from Buffalo driving with no license, no insurance in an unregistered car. Since the b-inlaw didn’t have collision he was screwed and had to buy another vehicle out of pocket. He’s taking the guy to small claims court, but you can’t get blood from a stone.
Bottom line, I love the automated license plate readers and wish every single cop car was equipped with them.
No, they can’t. You can even drive it around on private property with no insurance or registration. Depending on the local zoning laws you might not be allowed to park an unregistered vehicle in your driveway though.

Section 401 is the registration section of the VAT. Everything in there is about “public highways”. Private property does not apply when dealing with registrations. It’s why you can trailer a car to an autocross and run it with no plates.
Agreed, no one should have a problem with it unless they are consistently breaking the law.
Last night we were behind a cop, who was following a pretty nice lexus truck on hertel. at 3am
The car was going 20-25 in a 30mph HOW DOES HE NOT GET PULLED OVER!!
Find me the minimum speed sign. This happens every single day with old people. They go well below the speed limit.
Everyone bitches about “go fight real crime” and all this nonsense. Ever since crime rates in NYC had a major turn around, major metro cities and surround areas are going after “quality of life” type offenses. In other words, the small pain in the ass offenses that most people on here would cry over for days. The beauty is mass policing the constantly occurring “quality of life” crimes means that the people who are doing the more serious crimes are going to get caught beforehand.
You get a guy for no tail light and end up finding a gun and drugs in his car. Stop a guy for not paying bus fare and find out he’s a wanted felon. Constant policing of the small stuff leads to catching the major crimes before they take place and getting those people off the street with minimal confrontation.
Proactive > Reactive
You’re tail light is out- GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE SO I CAN VIOLATE YOUR RIGHTS.
Seriously, there are better ways.
:blah:. It’s pretty cut and dry if you are going to be asked top step out. Most people who probably have this happen have a reason to be nervous and it shows.
Don’t give them a reason to pull you over. Pretty easy solution. Oh wait, they will make one up, aka you get nervous and keep looking behind you and touch a line.
