Best diesel truck motor??

Honestly Nolan, if you’re not going to be towing something 50% of the time a 1/2 ton GM is a great buy, especially one that’s 2 years old with low miles. I have the 5.3L in mine with the Active Fuel Management (shuts off 4 cylinders) and it easily tows my friends 22-foot boat. GM also offered the 6.2L (same 403hp they put in the Escalades) in the 1/2 ton as an option, the 6.2 doesn’t have Active Fuel Management.

Diesel trucks are great and I’m not trying to steer you either way, it’s your $$$, but diesels usually cost more to repair, fuel costs more, and a diesel truck usually costs more to begin with. You’re more than welcome to drive mine if you want.

THANK YOU EVERYONE. I WILL ANSWER EVERYTHING BELOW.

  1. I wont be towing anything right now, but at some point I think I will. I’d like to get a project car (drift warz?) and be able to tow it around.

  2. I don’t have monies for a fancy new brochure truck :frowning:

  3. Not sure on a price for the Magnum yet, couple things I gotta do before I sell it.

  4. LETTUCE BE CEREAL. I want a truck that matches the size of my penis, so dont be surprised if I get some big dually that I have 0 need for…

I’m gonna go look at a couple trucks today I think, I’ll let you guys know what I find

Side note, any pros/cons on the 8.1 Vortec?

You need to just buy a square body Chevy one ton dump and get it over with.

Livin up to that “black guy” stereotype, AMIRITE LOL

The 8.1 is better than the 7.4 however both have their issues. Expect 8-9 mpg on average. Honestly a 6.0 2500HD will do everything you want and more.

what kind of money are you gonna be spending , 30k ? 20k?, cc or what cab?

OH GOD. DO WANT.

Yea, I just happened to see a nice truck with that motor for e decent price so I thought I’d ask. Definitely more than I need.

20k TOPS, any cab but regular (unless its a reallyyy nice truck)

:excited

So what you are saying is you have 0 need for your penis either? Sorry to hear that.

Its so big I really cant do much with it

My (our) 2005 Crew Cab Chevy stickered for 39000, fully optioned out. 5.3L 1/2 ton. Paid 14750 almost exactly 2 years ago. Pulls any of our cars on my trailer with absoutely no issues…set the cruise on ~73 and goes for hours without issue.

Get that dually and we can be 3500hd buddiez

Your truck was the first thing I thought of when I saw that ad :lol

Here ya go, but its white:dunno lol

I would stay away from a 2004.5 and down lots of injector problems and the extended warranty is long gone on them. For a few grand more find a 06/07 if duracrack is the way you want to go.

I’ll just leave his here to help with your decision.
