im partial to a dmax. but newer gm half tons are a great truck as well. my 06 has only left me stranded 1 when the batteries died. other than that ive done all the reg scheduled maint/ wearable parts without issues. i love my truck and if i could swing it would have a '11+ dmax denali but have other things as of now. like others have said 04.5+ on the max. but even the 04.5 had headgasket issues when towing. 06 & 07 classics seem to be the best dd with no emisions crap on them! ive had my truck tuned for the last 60k miles and its aa blast to drive. good luck looking for a truck! hit me up if you have some questions
I’ve never had a problem with my 05 overheating but the problem is out there. I tow all the time and have never seen my gauge go over 210.
The actual fix for that is just to change the air filter box to the newer style that moves more air. The additional flow lowers combustion chamber temp thus dropping ECT.
i have put over 170k on my duramax, its proved it worth to me a couple times.
