Best spots for photoshoots in the 518

New to the forum, not sure if you all have this thread yet, did a bit of searching and didn’t see anything. We are always looking for epic places to take our cars to shoot. But what are the best places in the 518 to get the best shots? Please feel free to share your spots, I’ll share some of mine…

-Thatcher Park, lots of great spots
-Out on 5s theres a gravel yard right across the water that makes for some good shots

I got a few others that I cant think of off the top of my head. But share your spots so others can experiment with new locations and different types of shots.

This should help as a start

I got nothing off the top of my head :lol

The camera guys here should chime in with some. :shifty

I head the Navy Yard is pretty good.
:ninja:rofl

Yea, I’ve been to most of those spots before, I’m just always on the lookout for new spots. That thread is a few years old, not sure if anyone found any other good secrets since then. I know I’m always driving around looking for new places to shoot.

Look around some of the photoshoots that were done in this section.

You may recognize a few spots or they got mentioned in the thread.

Unfortunately it seems that photoshoot season is over as well.

ohhhhh not quite

Good photo locations are like good fishing spots, noone wants to give em up. Half the work of a good shoot is finding a nice location. Locations that work for some cars don’t work for others, and many good locations turn bad when the lighting changes.

I don’t shoot cars as often as some of the guys here but have had good luck finding some decent locations when I do. Some general areas to look out for are off hour business parks/schools, parks, loading docks behind retailers, and seldom traveled roads. I’ve never had any trouble with police or security shooting on private property but was nicely asked to leave a business park once before. Good luck finding something hope that helps a bit.

oh so very true … sunday afternoons are ideal

Its all what appeals to the shooter and the look you are trying to achieve for the shoot too.

Albany International Airport. You can get onto the runway from Old Niskayuna Rd.
