Read an interesting article on IGN about games lasting the test of time and was wondering everyones own experiences.
If you take away the multiplayer element in some games and go purely off of the games single player campaign which game did you enjoy playing the most in our life? Which game gave the best sense of accomplishment after you beat it?
For years I would say that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was my favorite. No other game gave me a greater sense of accomplishment then beating Gannon for the first time. The game was truly epic for me.
Now however Zelda has taken very, very close second to a new game. That game is Mass Effect. I know that the game isn’t as groundbreaking as Zelda but this was the first and only game that once I beat it I immediately started over and beat it again. It truly felt like I was the character and making decisions that forever changed the course of the game. My choices had real consequences to the story, I also chose the fuck the blue chic.
I here the sequel is coming out next year and I can’t wait.
Super Mario Bros. 1, 2, and 3 and duck hunt on the original nintendo and a few years ago that PC game “Mafia” are the only video games that have ever held my interest for more than 15 minutes.
