Best video game you ever played?

Read an interesting article on IGN about games lasting the test of time and was wondering everyones own experiences.

If you take away the multiplayer element in some games and go purely off of the games single player campaign which game did you enjoy playing the most in our life? Which game gave the best sense of accomplishment after you beat it?

For years I would say that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was my favorite. No other game gave me a greater sense of accomplishment then beating Gannon for the first time. The game was truly epic for me.

Now however Zelda has taken very, very close second to a new game. That game is Mass Effect. I know that the game isn’t as groundbreaking as Zelda but this was the first and only game that once I beat it I immediately started over and beat it again. It truly felt like I was the character and making decisions that forever changed the course of the game. My choices had real consequences to the story, I also chose the fuck the blue chic.

I here the sequel is coming out next year and I can’t wait.

So whats yours?

Best Sense of Accomplishment = Final Fantasy VII, beating sephiroth with 9999 attack power!!!
then all the Zeldas follow right behind!!!

I would def say Zelda on NES, the gold cartridge

Final Fantasy VII…loved the story and the characters

zelda. on n64 and gba.

Taking away the multiplayer aspect, I’d say Bioshock. The immersing story, the beautifully drawn worlds and the impressive gameplay made it great.

Adding in multiplayer and the game I keep going back to is Rainbow Six Vegas 2’s coop mode.

Road Rash 3.

Super Mario World on SNES. Closely followed by Final Fantasy VII on PS.

Goldeneye n64

Deux Ex, FF7, Zelda and Metroid on NES, System Shock and X-COM: UFO Defense are all tied for “that game rocked”

Original Mario/duck hunt

/thread

Super Mario Bros. 1, 2, and 3 and duck hunt on the original nintendo and a few years ago that PC game “Mafia” are the only video games that have ever held my interest for more than 15 minutes.

oh snap…

counterstrike for PC… I forgot how much I loved that game.

Rachet & Clank up your arsenal
or Jak series

Fallout 2

Final fantasy III for the snes, aka FFVI. Best game overall, story and game play. beating 4 different forms of Kefka was ridiculously intense

Marble Madness for NES.

That game is still awesome.

thats only good if you play in on the harder setting.

Tecmo Super Bowl

I’m surprised no Resident Evil fans yet.
