yup, welcome to the world of shitty subaru mirrors. go get yourself a pack of wood window wedges and jamb a few pieces in the mirror as suggested. paint them the color of the car with some rattle can if you want them to blend in a bit.

You can take the mirror apart and tighten the mechanism, but I’ve broken the tabs off more mirror glass that I can shake a stick at doing this.

Wonder if you could set it in position. Carefully take it apart without moving it. Silicone the guts back there and put it back together.
