So I get home from work yesterday, grab the trash from my apt and bring it to the garbage pale on the side of my apt. I had the bike outside covered up because the landlord is doing work on the garage. Well I guess during the crappy weather the past few days a gust of wind pulled the cover off the tail of my bike and it hung up on the front.
I found it incredibly hard to believe that the wind would do such a thing, but the cover actually snapped the aluminum on my left side mirror (when sitting on the bike).
Long story short, I am looking to replace this mirror ASAP. I have the buyer of the bike coming Friday to pick it up and this is just pissing me off.
If anyone has 01-03 mirrors or 04-05 mirrors that would bolt right up LET ME KNOW.
After intense visual inspection my conclusion is that the cover caught badly on the mirror and a big wind gust caught the cover and put too much pressure on the mirror, thus snapping it.
sounds like you may end up having to buy a new mirror. You may wanna start making some calls to the local bike dealers/parts places to track one down thats in stock, and have em hold it JUST in case no one here has one. Also, did you try the local WNY Sportrida’s crew?
yeah I tried sportsriders and the thread has only gotten 8 views all day…lol
I guess the NYspeed crew has less of a life than those guys
Honestly, I don’t care much to fix the problem with new parts. Most likely I will knock $100 of the selling price and explain the problem to the guy. I don’t see it being much of an issue.
Honestly… the thought crossed my mind. I am going to pull her out today when I am home and see what I can do to actually fix the problem.
Since it is right on the joint I could actually re-attach the mirror with some heavy duty tape, and the entire thing would not even be seen becuase the 01-03’s had the silly rubber cover over the aluminum, which would hide “patch” work.
I will still let him know. I consider it bad business, and bad karma to hide this problem.
