Scion Tc: Removing case on rear view mirrors

The one night I park my car in the street some hoodlum has to hit it. Looks like some punk kicked the underneath of the rear view mirror and popped the outside case right off.

I guess they pop off pretty easily. My problem is the case was no where to be found. I found one fragment of the case in the grass on the street after a CSI investigation.

I bought a new mirror online after toyota said you had to buy the whole mirror… 80$ online… it just has one small crack that is going to annoy me, and I wanted to swap the nice outside case of the mirror i just bought, to my old mirror with the outside case missing. Because it is fine except for missing the outside shell.

Anyone know how to get the damn thing off… you would need to pop it off to change the blinker light too… so it has to come off… right? :bloated:

kick it again? my x had the same thing happen, lucily we found it and it snapped right back on

yea… it looks like one of those things that easily breaks as it comes off. I’m afraid of ruining the new one as well.

Whoever hit it, MUST have picked up the shell, there was no sign of it anywhere.

They need to make a less brittle plastic for cars for some of these pieces.

must be a new thing to do… find scion’s and kick the mirrors

If your mirror is power and has the turn signal i think its kind of a pain in the ass. I’ve done it once before i think and it was stupid but i don’t remember what i had to do. Lemme look at one and see if i can recall

Taking it to Toyota isn’t a bad idea. Maybe they break they buy. :smiley:
