The things you mentioned are what I’ve always been concerned with regarding modified turbo engines…There has already been some concern over oil temp with the 335s. People are seeing 300+ degrees when driven at the track and 240-250 degrees under normal driving conditions. What kind of oil temps do you see on the track with the S4? I know turbo engines run hotter but the oil has to break down at some point. When I drive my M3 on the track, I don’t see anything above 250 degrees.
The BMW turbos are made of some special alloy which is supposed to be capable of withstanding 1800 degrees…take it for what it’s worth.
I’ve done over a dozen track days (a couple hot days in there) and the highest oil temp I’ve seen is 255 degrees. 90% of the track time it’s 250 degrees dead on. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone with an S4 hitting 300 degrees.
crammed turbos or not… its going to be a sick car. The turbos on my car from the factory are no bundle of joy to work on either, they are stuffed in there and heat has never been an issue for me.
