Simply amazing. Rendering has come a long way. Practically everything
you see in car commercial these days is probally done in CG.
Here are some other nice renderings (of cars):
Thats rediculous… I actually cant even tell that they are cg.
Whats CG?
CG = computer graphics
The techie term reffering to images created or modified on a computer
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=cg&f=1
BTW, In the pictures that I posted, the vehicles is pure CG while the
backdrop/environment is just a 2D bitmap image. Lighting is now
computed using the bitmap image as a reference. It’s called:
HDRI (High Dynamic Range Imaging).
How it works (in a simple way): http://www.richardrosenman.com/hdri.htm
i thought it stood for computer generated, but i could be wrong.
You could be? No, you are.
But yea, i think some people like to call it ‘Generated’ but I do believe
most popular (if not correct) term is Computer Graphics.
Its amazing. Just look at the Porsche, how smooth and glossy the sides are but the detail of the scenery reflected in the paint. That’s intense!
Crazy.CG.Period. 8) … damn… if only someone did a 240 like that…
Technology has advanced a lot. I remember 5 years ago when it was nearly impossiblet o render a proper reflection out of a modeled polygon, never mind bitmaped environments.
It’s really click click click now a days for the texturing, but the modeling hasn’t gotten any easier. Too many option, so little time.
I haven’t modeled any cars in years, i’ll post my Lambourghini as soon as I find it. It would be interesting to do a 240… does anyone know where i can get blueprits of the car?
Here it is:
DRE
http://www.suurland.com has a great collection of blueprints. They have
a 240sx, but it’s only an S14. As well as a few Skylines.
Lambo here: http://www.onnovanbraam.com/index.php?m=blueprints&g=cars&id=lamborghini
thanks G, i’ll start doing the S14, i’m looking for an S13, those are hard to find.

I don’t know exactly what you guys are looking for, but I made
this a while back using a scanned in picture from the Nissan FSM
In order to make a 3D model of a car (or basically antyhing similar),
you need various angles of the picture. Primarily: front, side, and top.
There’s tonnes of info on how to model vehicles, but it’s time consuming
if you really aren’t familar with a certain software.
Hey Adam, does the FSM have line drawings of front, side top and back of teh S13?
that would be perfect for an acurate model.
Gonad is right, this stuff takes a looooong time. the Lambo’ took me over 40 hours and it’s “loosly” based on the real thing.
DRE
Unfortunally no thats the only picture I found of the full car…
