some renderings *DUW*

for anyone that cares… just some of the more recent stuff I’ve been working on. I’m also working on a new NYSpeed animation for anyone who remembers the last one. Any criticism welcome… I’ll just update this post in the future aswell. I’m also working on modeling a Lamborghini Murcielago… should have it done in the upcoming weeks. These are pics I have laying around… I’ll add some video and more renderings later

enjoy

header looks good. Appply a texture to the flange if you can, to get it looking more realistic. Which rendering program are you using so i can be more specific with suggestions?

what technique did u use the the primary pipes…Loft, sweep…etc…cause i have been toying with headers for my car and as u know there are ton of ways to do it…just wondering what u used

thanks… yeah, I want to redo the entire collector as the mesh got screwed up (looks too much like cloth IMO). I was also wanting to eventually add some kind of a weld texture to the seams.

I’m using mental ray w/ light tracer via 3dsmax (versions 5 and 8)

I used a loft using bezier curves on the main string
edit: and a shell modifier to give the sheet some thickness

oh man u have a light tracer u bastardo…if u fillet where the tubes meet the flange it can kind of resemble a weld…i am not sure if 3dsmax will allow to actually show weld texture

Ironic that the pictures are hosted at a site called “tinypic”

nice job steve

WTB 04 sti rendering

Nice! There is a guy on one of the other forums I’m on who does some cool shit too:

^damn

very nice  the second one turned out awesome… it’s not easy creating textures lighting and reflections on a model and matching it to a photo (and get it nice looking)

edit: looks like alot of time was spent on the details as well

What tools are you using? 3D Studio Max?

yeah  3d studio max

I have a few aftermarket plugins I use but it’s more cloth/hair simulation and space warp/particle effects than modeling tools

ehh 3ds kinda blows

I HIGHLY reccomend looking into a program called maxwell render. I think I have it laying around if you want it…

its not quite as wacky as 3dsmax…

look at the img gallery

Holy shit.

i need to get this Maxwell stuffs searching now

I have it. If you would like it, come and get it…

wow… some amazing work

I actually have maxwell but couldnt figure out how to use it (although, didn’t mess with it for too long)… is it a modeling program too? or just a rendering engine? Like I said, I had it up and running and from there I couldnt figure out how to do much of anything

Its just a rendering engine.

Are you drawing in cad and importing into 3ds?

i got it carl thanx though
