BMW Race car, 99 cent auction

If I didn’t just put so much money into the STi for tracking it next year, I’d be all over this. Two track cars would just be stupid…right?

Edit: In short, yes I’d give you $5k for it, if it’s as ready to go as you say.

The car was last raced as a complete D-mod car but due to the changes I made to the engine I was told it would be placed into C-mod now.

I do have a log book which I can email you scans from,
it was last raced during the 2007 season… then sold to my friend before the '08 season, and traded to me shorly afterward. I traded for it because I thought it would get me a profit over what I had, but I didn’t realize how horrible the race car market was.

I’ll have to lookup the name of the guy who raced it, he pretty much built it (along with a few shops). He’s not someone that most people are familiar with, but most of the people in bmwcca seem to be familiar with him.

I’d give you $6k.

Then dear god, please bid on it. I got two calls from people today saying “your bid is currently at 4,500… I’ll offer you 5.5 today.”

:eyebrow:

God I would put this back on the street with the pieces from my e36.

Race car market blows that badly? Part out may be in order, the drive train alone will go for more than the current bid.

The market is bad, but not this bad. People who are seriously interested are refusing to bid. I got a couple of calls today of people offering a substantial amount more but they will absolutely not bid on it… which makes it very difficult to get these people to play off each other. They all think they’re the only one interested in it since the bids are at 4.5k

I will bump it up to 10K if you do not hold me to it.

and this is why I won’t bid on it, I can’t blame people for that either, ebay blows soooo badly.

Im not asking for just random bids to put up the price on it… I’m just hoping some of you guys look at it and say, damn if that sold for $10k I’d be pissed if I missed that deal.

If it comes to it I will buy this for 8k. Cash in hand.

Put a bid in for it, and if no one out bids you, then I will seriously consider selling it to you (outside of ebay)

This is incredibly frustrating that I have everyone saying that they’ll take it for 8, 9, or 10k but they refuse to put the bid in.

If the current bid was 10k I’d be getting offers for 11 or 12k. I’m damn sure the car is worth that much even with the market the way it is.

Sounds like a common check fraud scam but, it’s possible they’re just trying to protect themselves. When taking any kind of check/bank cert/bank check or anything just tell them they have to wait till it clears before you release the title for protection. Otherwise they can bring cash. That’s how all those foreign scams get you, they send you a BS check that is real enough that it gets processed at the bank, but a week later when the bank tries to get the funds the check bounces cause the #'s don’t match up at the bank the routing # goes to.

My wife’s friend had a car for sale on craigslist and a guy made an offer for it over email they talked on the she phone and he mailed her a check. He sent extra so she could arrange shipping the car to him. She was questionable about the situation and asked me about it and brought me the check. The check looked so real it was absolutely amazing. If I hadn’t known about the scam in general I would have assumed it was a legit check but to check you can call the bank the checks from and give them the routing & acct # saying you’re asking to verify funds availability, there was no account there.

It was obviously a scam for the fact that the guy never called me nor responded to my message back to him. Its a simple matter of: if you don’t like the terms of the auction then you need to call to me and explain exactly why.

scammers won’t call and can’t explain anything reasonably. lol

I could have sworn that when you bid on ebay and the reserve has not been met it automatically bumps you up to your highest value until the reserve IS met.

Is that not the case any more?

That’s what I am always used to. I thought ebay automatically would bid on your behalf regardless of the reserve being met or not. It should just bump your bid as necessary until your max bid is reached.

I’m not sure we’re saying the same thing.

if I have a $10.00 reserve and the current bid is at $2

someone bids $8

I thought ebay would automatically put them at $8 (or the max amount of the bid) until the reserve is met.

Instead it seems that they’re putting it at $3 until someone else bids.

Dude i’ve never bid on anything from ebay in my entire life. Call it laziness or whatever, but I just don’t use ebay.I’m serious about that offer… maybe i’ll give ebay the 'ol college try tonight.

If I were to pick it up I would most likely put glass back on it and source an inspection sticker. SIQ DD.

At that point you may as well leave the lexan on it, it wont be any less obvious.

and yes, you must bid now. serious offers under $11k must be submitted to ebay.

Im heading out the door in 5 for PT on my ankle. I’ll be back on tonight.

Nope, that’s the way eBay has worked for a LONG time now. Only other bids bump up the price. The reserve is independent.
