but imagine if you were a buyer and it did that to you. you are in it to buy the item at the cheapest price possible. if it automatically raised the price to your max bid people would only bid in one unit increments each time they visited.
Which I guess means higher amounts for the seller if more than one person bids when they use the ‘max bid’ situation because it puts in incremental bids for the buyer, even when they dont visit the site. seems like the best of both worlds when I think of it that way.
The way mafdark described ebay was how it worked when the proxy bidding first begun. It used to bump you up if the reserve isn’t met yet since you were trying to buy the item. They changed it a while back when they added the second chance offer to only go up against other bids.
I think you’re missing what’s being said.
If a person put in a max bid of 10k and the reserve was 8k, the bid may never meet the reserve unless someone ELSE is bidding as well. Kinda shitty for the seller.
that’s what I thought, they must have done that at some point.
Anyway, it looks like the price is going up a little bit. Hopefully some people get into it and it’ll be done tomorrow.

Now I get a message from him which says “call me to work out details”
I think I’ll contact the previous high bidder to see if he wants to make an offer.
what’s wrong with calling someone to work out the details? Maybe he is not computer savy and he actually wants to speak with you. Don’t be stupid…call him

what I thought was odd with that message is that he didn’t ask if I would wave the reserve or if he could increase his offer. I dunno, it’s not a big deal I just thought it sounded odd.

it needs atleast real glass and headlights to be ‘legal’
