I’m probably going to pick up a special value package cavvy this summer, to have as a reliable daily driver to allow me to have unreliable non daily drivers that I like.
They are about 10,100 without incentives. I think I’m gonna wait until they put a rebate back on it and use the 1000 max allowable gm card earnings on it. that will bring it down to 8,100.
Does anybody know how those push, pull tow, 4000 guaranteed trade deals work. If I bought a junk car could I trade it in for 4k towards an 8100 dollar car when they are running that promotion or are there rules about it. If I could do that the car would be practically free.
Ya there are some dealers like Century 3 Chevy doing deals with car… you can drive, push your car into the dealer… but I have never read the fine print either… Ya just wait im sure by may or june there will be another rebate or deal… since this is the last year for the Cavalier and there coming out with the Cobalt
no they basically won’t work with the price. what ever the sticker says is what you pay for it…They usually won;t have those deals when there are instant rebates and such running at the same time…
I know the cobalt will be nicer but what are the prices on it. I don’t really want either that much but I do want something that gets good mileage and is cheap. If they have a 10k cobalt I would rather have that but I don’t want to spend 14k on a car I dont’ really want.
The only reason I want a cavvy is that they get good mileage and it frees up money for other vehicles.

I called a place once about this, and basically they use any type of instant rebates to “pay off your trade no matter what you owe”. And in your case a $4000 guaranteed trade would be ALL you would get knocked off the price, which you could get even if you didn’t give them a trade because it’s instant rebate savings anyways.

Well this would still work out, the biggest rebate they put on the special value package is 1k so 10,100 -3000 is 7100 an they can’t take the gm card earnings so that is still a 6100. there will be nothing owed on the car cause it will be trailered in from a junkyard and will cost me 20 bucks max.
Actually I was talking to the salespeople at Baierl, the cobalt will be just a little more than the cavy. I bought the special value package after looking at the civic, and the aveo. The aveo is a Daewoo. GM bought Daewoo, so that is the first car that chevy has put their name on. It was more roomy inside than the cavy, but I didnt like the looks of it. The civic was more than i wanted to spend. Whats cool is that the special value package has air conditioning and a cd player…but thats it…no power locks, mirrors, windows nothing. Its a fun car to drive. I really like the 140hp Ecotec, and the car is only $10,700. Not bad for a car with a 3/36 warranty. I could have bought another used car…but as you can see…that turned out to be a nightmare
And mike, the reason I gave the wife the CL is because its bigger and more safe. Also its got everything and the kitchen sink as far as options, and if she would break down in that…we have towing on our insurance. But that car runs great. Besides that is going bye-bye in a few months and we’re getting a four door car or a minivan, or a sport ute for room with the little ankle-biter.

Now Matt, you know I heart you… but I’m going to have to tell you the truth here…
Buying ANOTHER new car in 4-5 months is dumb. You made that post about not having any money and companies threatening to turn shit off that you don’t even have, and you are going to bury yourself in $600-$700 in car payments a month with a baby on the way?? If you haven’t realized it yet, babies are EXPENSIVE. Shelley isn’t going to be able to work for AT LEAST 6 weeks after having the baby, and from what you’ve told me, I’d bet that she won’t go back to work for awhile. So you’ll be stuck trying to to pay your mortgage (guessing $600 a month) plus $600-$700 in car payments a month. That’s $1300 right there in bills not even including that baby, utilities, food, gas, etc. and what are your paychecks?? Damn, I make $10/hr and don’t make CLOSE to enough to pay for those kind of bills (hence why I work two jobs).
Jenn, thank you for your concern, however we pay 400 bucks a month for the acura, so getting a used minivan/four-door car will cost less than keeping the Acura. Besides, I know where we stand financially, and we will be fine. Besides, I just sold my rims from the CL last night, and we are fixing the acclaim and selling it. AND…I just got a second job as well, and I make 14/hr at my regular job and she makes 13/hr. I wouldnt have bought the cavy, if we couldnt swing it.

…WOW now all of pittspeed knows my business!
Sorry… I just didn’t want you to get in too far over your head… I do care about you and Shelley ya know (even though I’ve never met her!
