click the link i posted above, and read my post in that thread. pick up tuning forced induction cars there are a couple chapters dedicated to the history of the turbo, wastegate, and BOV. the BOV was not designed to keep the compressor alive, that was just a nice side effect. keeping it from surging, aka spinning the wrong damn direction, makes it spool up again much faster… ie less lag.
its a great book for the shitter.
