greedy bov

ok i have a greedy bov on my jetta and whats the nut on the top of the bov were you can screw it in or out. and should i adjust it? :confused

it adjusts the spring tension so it doesnt blow off pre-maturely like Silent Steve.

because it seems when im driveing and and shift around 6000 rpms it loses boost should i adjust it?

how big is the turbo on your car? if you have a smaller turbo, you’re most likely losing boost because it cant keep up with the motor. My car boosts 22psi and falls to 15 by redline.

well i turend it down cause of my clutch being fucked but befor it was doing it i had about 16psi 17psi

your blow-off valve has nothing to do with the amount of boost the turbo is making. it releases unused intake pressure, that’s it. the only time the BOV will have an effect on your boost pressure is if it is leaking.

It could effect the boost pressure if it’s a ‘push’ style BOV and it either has a mechanical defect or is installed/adjusted incorrectly. That’s why I like ‘pull’ style…more boost just shuts it harder:)

no its a reuseing the air pressure i just want to know about the screw on top.

Thats why I said “if it’s leaking” ::slight_smile:

The screw on the top adjusts at what pressure the BOV opens

OMG sorry dood…

Top screws adjust the sensitivity of the valve, or in lamens terms how fast the valve reacts throughout it’s piston travel range. Used to tune out flutter. Bypass valves open due to the pressure differential change in the manifold that references the top chamber(s), not the actual pressure “pushing” the valve open. If bypass valves opened apon pressure buildup in the charge piping you’d get compressor surge every time.

Greddy valves are garbage, diaphrams always blow and leak/leave you stranded. Get a Synapse Engineering Syncronic and call it a day

LOL you love those Synapse pieces, huh?

So you just turned the nut without knowing what it does?

no i didnt touh it was just seeing that it does.

Yup, I’ve installed close to two dozen on everything from Evo’s to 930/965/996 Turbos and absolutely love the quality of the product and more important, the function and tunability of it. Plus I’m friends with Peter, the guy who designed it ;D

1 E 2 D’s bub :ohsnap

= fail :ban

:fail

wow you fail

:highjack…deff just happend

:lol
