Buffalo 5th in Nightlife and 3rd in culture

35th in living cost ?? WTF

Im assuming cost of living is relative to average income for singles or something?

Edit:

Cost of living alone: Our proprietary cost of living alone index is determined by the average cost of a metro area’s one-bedroom apartment rent, a movie ticket and a six-pack of Heineken ( HINKY.PK - news - people ). Additionally, we factored in entry-level salary data. Raw data came from the Accra Cost of Living Index, provided by the Arlington, Va.-based Council for Community and Economic Research and New York-based Mercer Human Resource Consulting

That explains it… supply vs bro demand… Buffalo has a high bro population.

NYC ranked better to living costs?

how is a single person supposed to afford a good place to live in NYC??? you cant get a decent apartment for 200k in the city, yet it will buy you a mcmansion in amherst… WTF

exactly as viper says… I can live for < 500 dollars a month… and in NYC you’d be lucky to get a apartment for under 1000

And wasn’t it Forbes who called us the second most depressing city to live in last year lol?

Ya I am pretty sure its a ratio between average salary and average house cost including the utility expenses.

38th in online dating? no wonder why i cant find a date.

Yeah look at my quote… they explain it in that.

lol nice

5th and 3rd? Buffalo? is this just NY state rankings? or northeast?

I have a feeling its all of the US.

Think about all the festivals buffalo has for other groups. Polish, Italian, Puerto Rican, etc… We have the largest polish festival outside of Chicago and I know you always hear about how big the other festivals are here. that and the fact that buffalo bars are open till 4 am which is pretty hard to come by anywhere. Even Chicago and other big cities usually close at 2am.

Only thing I am not sure about is

big sports scene, which includes the Sabres and Bills.

LOL @ Milwaukee and Portland ranking higher than NYC for night life. The only city NYC could be second to is the only city it is second to: Las Vegas.

I was hurt by the online dating rank.

I think its going by bars per people… hell chippewa has 24 bars in 3 blocks…

pst… there are quite a few bars that have 6am liquor licenses in Chicago, you just have to know where to go (like Weed st, most of them are open till 6am)

I just moved here from Milwaukee a couple months ago, there is A LOT of stuff to do there at night, and don’t forget Milwaukee is a beer town, home of Miller Brewing. Lots of drinkers and bars there.

I think it may take price per drink or other things than bars too into night life.

hah I don’t think forbes considered after hour drinking in their surveys.

Uhm… that makes your statement incorrect, it has nothing to do with Forbes… re-read your quote

between night life, cost of living, and culture I miss buffalo, if only the average temps were 10-15 degree better.

In Myrtle Beach everything is the same shit. Just a different day.
